They do, We had two in the display, one was banished to the sump for eating most of the smaller frag of GSP, and I caught the second one doing the same. however, it's still in the tank because for the most part it's been good. Some things have changed, IE we got rid of the lawnmower blenny because his personality changed in this new tank. We added a starry blenny, a scooter blenny, and a filiment wrasse. Also added a frag of zoas, a frag of frogspawn, a frag of purple rim monti, and a RBTA. Also, I recently aquaired a second 30G breeder so I will be making a new sump with that, the 29 gallon was just too tall to really do anything in. Also, I am knee deep in an LED build, and have all the components for a DIY reef controller.
 
Update, I just finished silicone baffles in my new sump. I plan to install it on Sunday.

Why did you notch the frame?

Is that right chamber for a refugium? The very short overflow area together with the mesh that can clog look like a prime spot for an overflow.
 
I was just thinking that was a bit too high to contain any runover in case of a power failure.

I notched the frame because I was distracted while installing the bubble traps, and as a result installed the two end ones first, notching the frame was the only way I could install the middle baffle without removing and re-siliconing. I very much doubt that will have much effect on structural integrity. And yes, the right chamber is a refugium, The baffle is a little taller than I would have liked, this was once again my fault since I gave the glass shop the measurement for my old sump baffles since both sumps are the same width. Hopefully it doesn't cause any trouble. I'll be testing this before final installation.
 
Well, got er all installed, took out the center brace on the stand :eek2: to remove the old sump and install the new one. Laid down a sheet of 4 mil plastic and put the new sump up on acrylic 1/4" square rod. Already I am LOVING the new sump. I can actually reach to the bottom of the refugium, I have space between the top of the sump and the stand. I was able ton increase the refugium capacity by 2 gallons, and increase the size of my skimmer section which in turn makes it MUCH easier to remove the skimmer for maintenance. I can also control my clip on refugium light's direction more now that the bottom of the display tank isn't interfering with the light itself. I had the center brace out for about 20 hours with no ill effects. I'll post pictures later.

This only gave me 1.75" of extra clearance, but that was plenty.

ACK!!! just peeked in my sump and saw a solitary Aptaisia, about 4000 bristleworms, and 12 mini serpent starfish. Meh, it's only my sump, as long as the aptasia and serpents don't get up to my display I say let them grow let them grow, let them grow.

My wife apparently found an aptaisia in the display...time to pick up some aptaisia X to nuke it! I'll let it grow in the sump though since aptaisia is an excellent filter...btw, I know where these came from, a frag from the frag swap in my display. :brick::brick::brick:
 
So, Now that I have a house I have been slowly working on changing this build over to a basement sump, since the only thing changing is the sump location, plumbing, and return pump, should I start a new build thread, or just update this one? Thoughts?
