What is your own definition of Reef. I received differences in definning Reef at a couple show a aquariums. I like to know how our club definning it (Reef).

My definition: Which ever one (fish or corals) you'd tear the tank apart for in an effort to save.

Not sure I understand the question, what defines a reef in our living room or what defines a real reef in the ocean ?

a true reefer in my definition means...a piece of square paper use to wrap grassy "seaweeds" that can vary from Magic, Amazing, Wonderful feeling. :freak6: :clown:

I'm guessing SaltRooky means whether a tank would be considered a reef tank or fish tank. Many years ago my cousin from San Diego told me I didn't have a reef tank because there were fish in it. Apparently at that time it was generally believed you couldn't keep coral and fish in the same tank. Since I had both it couldnt be a reef?????

It depends on what kind of reef it is. Not all reefs have coral. There are reefs in Lake Superior that I used to fish all the time.

A reef is any structure that hold fish and wildlife. As a Walleye fisherman I look for rock reefs to fish. In the ocean they sink old ships to create artificial reefs. Water life just wants something of structure to attach to and grow or to swim around and hide in for protection.

Sorry, i was out if town. Wild reef is the answer to your question.

I was at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago over the weekends and Ireceived two different answers. I like to know the answer from hardcore reefer in our club and will compare later.
