Drying out old sand (1 Viewer)

I think a little wash in citric would spruce it right up. Won’t do much for bound up phosphates but it’s a start.

If it were me? Tip bucket into mesh kitchen strainer to get most and then pour flat on a big tote bin or tarp maybe

How are you guys straining the water out to dry out?
I tilt the bucket so the water slowly percolates out. So take it from upright to 45, shake it so the sand doesn’t collapse, and then take it to lying on its side. Once that water’s moved out, I prop the bucket so the bottom is up by an inch or so, and let the rest of the water drain. It won’t get everything, but it will get most of it, and the sun will dry out the rest

When I cleaned my sand to reuse I drilled some holes in the bottom of a container and lined it with some old bed sheet and put the sand in and let it sit for a couple days.

First I drain it as best as I can. Then I make some wicks out of rolled up paper towels and push them into the sand. You can actually see the wicks working. A fan blowing over the bucket is a big help too.
