Educate me on T5 lighting (1 Viewer)

Lighting is a tough choice. The reason why I ultimately decided on T5 retros for my tank was the versatility. It's easy to alter the color temp, add bulbs, take away bulbs, have as many timers as you want, and well, I was convinced the icecap retrofit reflectors were the best for focussing output into the tank. I also had a fully-enclosed area for my lights so appeareance of the lights themselves wasn't a factor.

I've made several frames for retro kits out of aluminum and would be happy to put one together for you too. The one I have on my tank right now also incorporates fans for active cooling and moonlights all on the same aluminum frame.

Retro it up, get a reefgeek 4 bulb retro then do a 2 bulb VHO retro for actinics!

We did get the 5' Teks in a few weeks ago... along with lowered prices on a the fixtures... you know,... just to make you have more to think about :gay1:

oh... but I would go retro too.....You know we have everything out on the floor at the store... Your not still pissed I called you John the first year I knew you, are you? :gay1:

Thanks for the offer. I will probably be taking you up on this, assuming this is what I end up doing. :beerchug:

And I do have a bottle of 10 sitting around.

I like this idea, as I do have an icecap ballast + endcaps sitting around somewhere. I would prefer, however, to support the locals, even if it costs a little more.

I think John and I had more fun keeping you confused as to who was who.

I'm pretty sure the kits SWE sells are from ReefGeek. At least, I think they were at one time anyway.
