Fijicube 81 gallon (1 Viewer)

So yes there is aluminum in there. Is that from the ceramic media? If so what are my options because it’s been in there since I started the tank over a year ago. Guessing if I remove it all (4 bags) it wouldn’t be good. I could do one bag at a time I suppose

This is what is in the bags in my sump. The blocks under my skimmer are the sma brand of media

It’s only an issue in the beginning, once it’s cycled and several water changes later it is a non issue. I hear typical US reef tank have that flagged

Besides you wanting to find the source, the Si is definitely not the cause of your coral death, IMHO. This was my silicon level when I was dosing silicate to help with a dino outbreak.

SPS going white in weeks sounds like bleaching to me? Maybe you were totally cooking them with those light levels? Did you start them on a frag rack low in the tank and acclimate them? I'm definitely not an expert, but that's the first thing that comes to mind based on how you described them dying.

Going to see if flow is my issue. Upgraded to the Pulse 4 from the Pulse 2 mainly because it integrates with the Hydros controller. Was going to go with Tunze but looked like integration was a little more difficult. Have 1 Pulse 4 and will add the second one soon. I will keep one of the Pulse 2s on the opposite side of the tank. Currently only running the 4 at a max of 35% and the sand is rolling ever so slightly. I may bump it up at some point but will wait until the 2nd one is on. The Hydros is great for a non-techy type person like myself, everything is so easy to set up and manage.IMG_3409.jpegIMG_3410.jpeg

More Flow is always a good thing! Just don’t expect it to be your silver bullet :)

Not sure what to expect anymore. I have more coraline then I have ever had in any tank. I also have an ATI blade coming next week. I’ll see if a little more light spread will help.

Ok the new blade grow is on. I like it. I think it fills in a lot of dark spots anyway. I’ll take some PAR readings and see what’s up. I ended up buying the mount extender and it fits perfectly around my lid to allow me to lift the lid a bit when needed. IMG_3414.jpegIMG_3413.jpeg
