you need massive amounts of flow for a nps tank.. a cryptic tank would be low flow, sponges and dusters ect.. nps tanks require so much constant food that you need to keep it constantly in the water colum. but require pristine water conditions. a tank that is def not for someone to attempt who is already conceedin $$ is an issue

Proper flow is achievable, especially with the money saved from no need for reef lighting, and with an RO/DI system (which I believe BadOmen has) large waterchanges shouldn't be too much of a hurdle. Not saying go and try carnations and the like. Although sponges can live in low flow, they will thrive in "medium" flow as well. Add to that some gorgonians and maybe some dendrophyllias and you've got yourself one sweet tank! With these corals too, one doesn't need to feed 10X, 15X, 20X, or more per day as they would with the very very difficult to keep NPS, making water quality more manageable. With a 20 gallon, at least IMO, a 10 gallon water change once a week isn't that much of a burden, and even that, at 50%, may be too much.

I do like the idea though of a macro tank, maybe with pipefish or even tank bred seahorses if possible (though don't know much about seahorse care, so IDK if that would work.)

^ u ever want to talk dedicated nps systems set up to thrive and be sucsessful feel free pm me or call me anytime...

gorgonians in nps systems require constant feedings to thrive... if your talking about adding photosynthetic gorgs than you are right..

and what little you save on lights will be spent in other areas and then exceeded..

If I had gone cryptic I wouldn't have added NPS anyways, I would've gone for sponges, barnacles and the like.

I know for sure it will be a macro tank. Now I need to decide to put 2 pipefish or 1 mantis shrimp in it.

Hmmm, tell that to my NPS gorgs (although I admit it is only a few) which have been growing great since I got them lol Now please, i'd really appreciate it if you dialed back the attitude just a little bit, it was just a cool idea that I believe, although more expensive than the other options, could be achieved and would look sweet. Thanks!
