I lost my cleaner shrimp a few months ago and want to pick up a new shrimp at the swap. I'm torn between buying another cleaner or trying out a fire shrimp. I really want a fire but I have no experience with fire skrimps except my roommate had one a few years back and it gobbled up a whole 100+ polyp colony of zoas. We then gave him the ax and both of us have only kept cleaners/peps/pistols ever since. This seems to be a rare occurrence. I have a 30g cube so having both is not an option imo. Experiences?, advice?, suggestions?
Thanks Zach

Mine have been model citizens. Then normally won't clean anything though. Just for looks.

If you want a work horse cleaner stick with the skunk. If you want something a bit more decorative go with the fire shrimp.

I wouldn't use your experience as reason not to get one (I would guess something else was going on with the tank).

I have 2 peppermint a skunk and a fire all in my 55. The fire shrimp chases the skunk away from his favorite overhang spot. But beyond that I haven't seen any signs of aggression or anything that would be of concern

They are both very similar and care. The only difference is that I've found fire shrimp to be more reclusive. My cleaners would always sit on my hand and eat, but fire shrimp never did that.

I agree. Fire shrimp hides much more. Mine likes to hang upside down in a LR overhang. My peppermint and skunk will climb on my hand/arm if I'm still and try to clean me. My cleaner goby actually will try to clean me too
