I picked up a green torch and a frogspawn today at DA before I left the food party (thanks Angie and others who helped! Thank you Jay as well, love the corals!). Just got them in after floating and acclimating. I couldn't wait until tomorrow evening to take these pictures so I turned two lights on (454 and daylight) so I could snap a picture of each. They started to open up when I took the pictures. They are in a 125 gallon tank that is 3 months old. The tank was stocked with ~100lbs of 2yr old LR and ~25lbs of dry rock.

A little farther back than the frogspawn so it looks a little smaller.

No kidding!! I don't have fish in the tank yet because they came down with ick that I didn't quite get rid of before adding them. So in a month or so there will be four happy fish swimming in there. That means more food for the new corals. :banana:
 
I am going to get more pictures up because they are both wide open now. I am happy to have some coral movement in the tank now. I really want to see Jay's tank now that he told me about his tank because he was telling me about it when I was paying.
 
More open now. The frogspawn has let two brown strings go, not sure what that is. Help would be great! Any tips on how to spot feed these two? Being there is no fish I want to feed them more carefully than if I had fish.

Congrats, Kyle! You are well on your way to being obsessed! It's a real slippery slope!

I hand feed my LPS usually once a week or so....I use tiny pieces of mysis or whatever - I haven't had a ton of luck getting my torch coral to eat, but the frogspawn is voracious! I use a tiny tweezer to place it in the coral tentacles, fairly close to the mouth. It's so fun to watch them eat! I have been known to overfeed because I enjoy watching it so much! :)
 
I am way obsessed already! I want to upgrade to a 180 or 240, but can't afford that. lol

I will try hand feeding tonight after dinner.
 
Some of Matt's Palys did this when I was over and we did a good deep clean and large water change. I think some corals tend to "puke" (as I called it) when they get stressed out. Once it settles in, it should stop doing that. :)
 
When I've fed my LPS I've just used melted a cube of frozen mysis in a dispensing bottle and squirted a bit right into each head. They do the work after that. If you have cleaner shrimp you'll want to feed them first or they'll just pick the coral clean before it can eat.
 
I will try hand feeding to start with being that I only have two heads. Don't need too much mysis for the time being.
 
I think of it more as 'coral poo' it happens every now and then even to some of my froggys/hammers/torchs and, yes, I think it can also be induced by stress. A stress poo:freak6:
 
Hmm, that happens to me after a night of lots of fruity drinks... :gay1: :pint:

On a less TMI note, keep those pics coming, they're looking good. FTS also?
 
After I get a new Pirannah glass scrubber. The front glass has some diatoms. The mag-float that I got with my tank scratched the outer glass some. So in a few days I will get a FTS up. Still trying to figure out where to place them. I want SPS in the tank with a LTA and maxima clam eventually.
 
Both took mysis shrimp. I gave three small pieces each. I feel like I am feeding a nem. lol
 
I am going to play around with feedin and see how it goes. I will be seeing what works and what doesn't. BTW, I think the torch has a second head forming.
