Fish safe eels? (1 Viewer)

I was going to take him out when I fish out my pink spot goby. The pink spot for sure takes things down into his cave, like hermits and, if my suspicions are correct, shrimp. I have a theory that the engineer does this as well but have never seen it happen. Was just gonna take him out to be on the safe side.

But who knows when I'll get around to catching these guys. Ideally I would like them gone sooner but theres a pretty solid chance I'll be lazy and they'll still be around in a month.

I'll keep an eye on him...I've had him two years and still have never seen him do that, I do know the pinkspot does. Only through researching have I discovered that engineers can do that as well. Its not so much that they're trying to eat them so much as they dont like things getting near their caves. Bigger shrimp should be fine.

Also, he likes to dig...a lot. Think about that too when you're making your decision. Kinda cool unless you have corals near where he wants to dig. Can always blow it off but still, a bit of a PITA.

K thanks! Do they need a dsb though? If not, I'll ask my mom if she would be ok with an engineer goby.

Is a banana eel likely to eat cleaner and peppermint shrimp? Also, what about fish that rest on the bottom? I like the one of Diver's Den right now. How long should I wait before I add an eel (if I decide to get one)? I know they are messy eaters, so would it not be good to add one to a newer tank (in terms of adding to much to the bio load)? Thanks!
