I bought a purple frogspawn at the fall swap, put it in my wife's nano until my 50g's cycle was done and it was doing great. Once I moved it over I put it in place and made sure it was doing fine for a week before I glued it in place. Everything was going fine until I changed the peak of my light phase on my razor LEDs from 75% to 85%. It wouldn't extend and lost half it's flesh in a week. Since I'm a noob I asked questions and found out us should only change 1% a week. I dropped my lights back down to 75% and it stopped losing flesh. However this was 3 or 4 weeks ago and I haven't seen any growth coming back or full extension.

Is this normal after frying it? Should I give it a few months to start growing again or should I move it? I really like where it is and don't want to move it. My water parameters are fine and I only have to dose soda ash 60 ml every 6 days to keep alkilintiy up.

I have also noticed an unknown hitchhiker on it at night. It looks like a mini feather duster and sucks in really fast when I put a flashlight on it.

Moving it lower will at least let you know if it's not expanding because of light. It can be slow for damaged heads to regrow so yes your talking several months to recover.

However, 10% increase isn't that huge and unlikely the root cause. More likely water parameters/chemistry that is the issue.

Thanks for the help. It's right above the sand so I cannot move it lower.

Is the tissue deteriorating? Euphyllia do not do well in high/medim flow areas. If it is not in a low flow area you will want to move it. I have found they like low, uplifting flow.

It's in a low flow area. My mp10 is on the other side of tank and the power head on its side of the tank is above it and to the side
