I picked up a free tank that was supposedly in good condition. But I'm not sure how long it was laying in the front panel at the bottom of his driveway. At home I saw it has a pretty good chip out of the bottom front. Does anyone know anyone who can repair something like this? Or is it not worth it.

It's neat dimensions, 48wx30dx24h and he says Starfire glass but it's not something I need.

Thanks!

Is the black all silicone? If so, I would just run a thin bead across the bottom front on the inside and call it good.

The black line is silicone, so the entire chip is covered in the inside by silicone.

It looks a little delaminated from the bottom glass, you think that's ok? I guess if repair isn't practical I can test it, we have a heated outbuilding.

Personally I wouldn’t use that tank if you paid me a thousand bucks. Maybe I’ve seen too many Red Sea tanks blow their seams, but a tank that big is a TON of water to hope for the best on. Frameless tanks really depend on perfect structural rigidity.

A test fill is certainly a good start. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Kind have to agree chip is a unknown.. kinda like that house card in black jack..
It's a gamble

I am on the side of not using it, unless you are planning on setting up and leaving in a place where water damage is contained.
even with a test fill the next day or even moving or bumping it could be all that it needs to for seam to fail.
With the volume of water and amount of money we put into these tanks even brand new ones could hold for a year and then you wake up to a leak, if it was me I would never sleep well knowing there is an actual flaw in a spot of the tank that has the most pressure on it just waiting to burst open.

Fair enough, thanks for the feedback! Are these valuable to anybody, worth giving it away or is it best for the landfill?
