Greetings from the Philippines (1 Viewer)

Here is a bonus fish to ID. I know what it is and a diver can hope to see one out of 300-500 dives. Our guides had not seen one in 5 years and we got word from another group where one was hanging out!

I call it the garbage monster because the bottom was completely covered in trash.

Then we went hunting for blue ring octopus as well as their mimics and one other variety of blue ring. We found a few but my photo of the mimic was the only one that showed well... Probably because it's the only one I'd get right up to.

I want that nudibranch :)

I haven't been to Anilao in over 30 years when my family lived in Manila. So long ago Marcos was still in charge. We use to go there every few months. The accommodations were grass huts, and the meals were some of the best Filipino food I ever had. Some of the best diving ever. My brother has been back in the last few years and said it has changed considerably.

Ya... It's nothing like that. At least the accommodations. Easily the best staff and dive crew I've ever had, true professionals.

Thanks Ryan: I have never gone suba diving yet, but I did have the opportunity to do some snorkeling in the Philippines. When I was in the Navy and on R & R, in Subic Bay PI (1972), we got to go snorkeling off Grandy Island. It was my first time, and saw lots of beautiful fish and corals. The pictures are a great reminder of the great time we had, Thanks for the pictures.

Any guesses what this is? I saw a ton of them but couldn't figure it out.

Those are incredible pictures, Ryan.

Slowly but surely I'm getting better (o:

I suppose there's not as many opportunities to "practice" as you would like.

Ha ha ha... oh yes. I probably spend more time shooting macro style shots but with a dedicated macro that's all I'm left with for options. Generally cropping down my wide angle seems to leave enough detail for my purposes... tough a macro lens would be stunning :captain:
