Events & House Meetings:

The dates for our traditional events are set and can be found in the calendar. More details will follow when the Event Committee has everything in place.
Besides those we will have the "Behind the scenes" tour at SeaLIfe and there are more to be announced soon. To name a few: I know at least one of our LFS will have quite a big event in October. There will be also a "Fragging & photography workshop. You will have the opportunity to see live different fragging techniques and also you can bring your camera and we will show you how to set it to make good aquarium pictures. Once you took a few pictures we will load them on a PC and show you how you can adjust and enhance them with simple software
I can't express enough how thankful I am to have those dedicated members in the Event Committee knowing how much work there is involved to put an Event together.

Fall Frag Swap: 11/19/2011
Speakers Event: 04/14/2012
SeaLife: 01/15/2012

New MOD's:
We have about 15 great candidates willing to serve as new MOD's. For now we are looking to add 5 to them to the team and once everything runs smooth we will add a couple more. The 5 we choose will be introduced very soon.

Website/Forum:
Tim (Zoolan70) and myself are working on a full upgrade and revamp of our site and forum. This is quite a big task as the actual software version (Version 3) we are running at the moment is not fully compatible with the Version 4. It is not done with setting up a new version, importing all the data and done.

This is the plan:
We have setup the new version on a "test server" for test purposes and a smooth conversion.
What will it bring to you:
• New and fresh look
• iTrader will be implemented
• The calendar will be more sophisticated with a RSVP system for meetings. This means when a members organizes a Meeting you don't have to post in the thread or PM him anymore. You just will be able to add your name to the list in the calendar. If there is a limit set how many can attend the list will be closed automatically unless somebody cancels his participation.
• If you put up something "for sale" in the Classifieds and it is sold you will be able to mark the posting as sold to avoid people keep asking if it is still available etc.
• There will be a side box where all your threads you subscribed to will be visible. This will make it easier for you to keep track of your topics of interest.
• The "reputation system" we have now in place will be expanded. Your reputation won't go up or down solely depending on the points you get from other members or friends but will depend on many more factors: Frequency of posting, threads you started, meetings you attended and many more. If you would get an infraction your reputation will be affected also.
• Below the Sponsor banner there will be a scrolling text with the "Super Deals" offered by them at a particular time.
• There will be more options and an easier way to embed several media into your postings and threads.
• You voted to keep the "Social Groups". With the new software you will be able to edit your postings and will see also at your "Front Page" if there are now posting from the Group you are a member. Other enhancements will be available also.
• Your picture gallery will be enhanced and the albums will be presented in a nicer way for others to view.

From the input we got from you other options we are looking into:
• Besides being able to sell or trade you would be able to setup an auction for your items
• For those who want to setup a blog we will have this option available to you
• Quick chat option

Once we have everything setup we will invite a few "Beta Users" to test the whole system for bugs. According to their input we will optimize the "look and feel" for a smooth navigation around the whole site etc.
When we feel confident every things works properly we will switch over to the new and upgraded Forum.

Judging by the way you do things with your tanks Michael, I think we are all confident that you will offer us nothing but the best here on TCMAS. I am pleasantly surprised you are implementing so many changes so fast. Good work.
