I have had calls from 3 people in the past two weeks that share the same problem. The thermostats in their heaters have failed in the ON position. All 3 heaters were visi-therm.

Marineland seems to be stepping up to the plate as all 3 where looking for sales histories to submit for payment.

Be sure your heaters are on controllers regardless of who makes them. All of them can be ticking time bombs.

There is no recall on these heaters at this time. However, it looks to be a trend in this type of failure.
Google search for visi-therm stuck on

Don't have one, but thanks for the heads up! Were they all purchased aroud the same time frame?

good thing i got an ebo. unfortunate for those who had them fail. Looks like a good time to invest in a controller for it at the same time.

Yup. My recalled Stealth replacement Visi-Therm stuck on in the FW tank. It's still in there, but unplugged.

Marineland is gonna have a hard time getting any more business out of me again.

I think Clint's point is a valid one. A heater, regardless of manufacturer is a ticking time bomb.

I had a 2 month old Finnex HMA-200 Titanium Heater with Controller warm the biocube up to 97 degrees........

Next day a new heater and a RKL was in the tank. Yep, these Visi-therm are problems, protect your tank regardless.

Used reef keeper lites pop up on reef central for $75.00 and they have a temp probe and heater control. For the price of a fish one can get a controller. This is a must if you ask me.
