Just wondering what people have around here as far as 'higher end' anemones go? I know there are a lot of nice rainbow strains in the cities, but does anyone have any Chicago Sunbursts, Colorado Sunburts, Supernovas, or Infernos?

I've got an Arizona Sunset that I really love from Nezw0001 awhile back and since then have added quite a few varieties (but nothing really high end) to my collection. I'm wondering what others have?!

I have a large black widow nem right now, actually the last of the strain i used to propogate. I owned a chicago for about 14 hours before it got eaten by a powerhead :(

I have also owned a WWC hawaiian punch nem, but it did not ship well, and perished in 3-4 days.

Are you talking only Bubble Tips? I have a large Heteractis Magnifica, and 3 Haddoni Carpets (one intense neon red, one intense neon blue, and, one somewhat common red/deep pink). I am actually thinking of taking this tank down, and my other tanks also, and moving in to one larger tank in the near future, 3 large tanks are just getting to be too much. So coming in the near future, these will probably be up for sale?

Please let me know when they're available :) I have a 150 gallon I just setup that needs a nice anemone and I would love to buy locally

I will post in the next few months, need to get the ball rolling on the new custom tank first though. At this point, there will be a lot of livestock for sale, including the Anemonies, and of course at the end of that, most of the tanks and equipment also

I have a chicago and colorado and an inferno and several arizona sunsets

Awesome collection! The sunset nem I have came from you and it is gorgeous! You have a large system, do you keep all of your anemones in the same system and have you noticed any issues? Have you ever had any splits from some of your other ones? Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your Chicago, that’s a hard loss to take - I’m sure the Hawaiian Punch one was as well! Are you planning on doing more than the Black Widow and do you mix them or not usually?

all of mine are in separate small systems. I tried combining them (one at a time) with disastrous results.

Nope, mixing always ends poorly for me. I've had numerous rainbows, roses and greens over the years to, and always end up with a single strain in the tank no matter what after months/years. I'll never mix nems

I appreciate the feedback even though it didn't go over well. It's always interesting to me to hear other people's results because for example there are many who say the same (Davy Jones included) and then there are many people who I follow who have several varieties of the higher end anemones mixed together (i.e. Colorado Sunburts and Infernos). I am not there yet, but would definitely like to start collecting some of those anemones as well and at this point would rather err on the side of caution and keep them all separate, although in my 30 gallon, I have 4 different varieties that have been mixing well with no issues at all. I have somewhat of an anemone 'island' that they all tend to stick to.3A060967-63CE-4A6B-9797-D870537E1B94.jpeg

Its pretty tough to watch several $1200 anemones slowly wither away. The high ends are a whole different animal from normal BTAs. They will do well for a while then just slowly go down hill.

Again, thanks for sharing. Depressing to have that happen I'm sure though!

Not my pic, but here’s a Colorado Sunburst

That there is why the only Anemone ill pay over $150.00 for is a Lemon - which I have only seen for sale like 3 times in 10 years.

That one I have wanted for a decade and would be worth the shot for me

I have heard this as well about mixing them.

I have added 2 different RBTA's a black widow, a GBTA and 2 different species of Rainbows

At this point I am holding off on adding anymore to see how they all do because of what I have heard

So far the Black Widow has gone stringy but still going strong

Lost one small baby Rainbow BTA - or he is all but disappeared at this point

The GBTA died after 3 days

The rest all going strong

There is an interesting video - need to remember where - about Lemons being a phase of the Chicago Sunburst. I'll have to find that resource again. They are beautiful nems for sure!

Thanks for sharing what you've got going in your tank right now too! I am curious to see how they will do long term (as well as my own). I've got the 4 that I mentioned in my 30 gallon, but for about a month or two I also had about 13 baby anemones in the tank as well. I was housing the anemones in a little breeder net so that I could spot feed them and so that they didn't roam all over. It's been about 2 weeks now that they've been in my Nuvo 10 and there are at least 5 different varieties all sharing space and looking healthy. At this point, I'm not running carbon on either system, although I will probably grab some chemipure eventually.
