Sorry its been a hectic couple days.

Wes I am going to look into the halide. I am really concered about heat with my tank. During the summer with the T5s my tank got to 80 with heater unplugged. Still may just do a T5 retro fit so I can use it on my next tank. I'm itchin for a winter project.

a tank at 80 is no big deal. hell, a tank at 83 isn't really that big of a deal.

right now I have my 150w halide about 2" from the surface. a fan kicks on from time to time(ACjr) and the temp never goes above 79.

I should have also mentioned that my tank is in the basement. Nice and cool down there.
The fan is controled by the the water temp correct?
Is the fan built in to your hood?

I run an open top. here's a couple pics to show ya

it's still quite a new tank, so I'm working on filling it up. I'm thinking around november 17th, I'll have a lotta cool things to get in there!
