Excited to take a breath and put out a post on this… tons of backend testing that’s been going on but the Beta launch has been a big success. Helps that it’s nearly completely fleshed out.

Teaser, here’s my display from the other day.

Pre-Launch

Booting up the largest single programming run I’d done in one go, this is 1/3rd of them.

Here’s when I ran through an initial setup, most users will complete this in under 30 seconds but I have extra security steps to bypass.

*** I mounted this to the back of my frag rack using the built in attachment point.

This was my favorite video only because of a bit of mild ‘dad humor’ a few might catch right away.

Ryan can this be flush mounted into the wall ?
I suppose would need to 3D print the mount. Then it would be like a nest thermostat

If you make one I would buy it… I suppose the same could be used to mount it on a board etc

Currently the included flush mount bracket is for things like a cutout in a cabinet door where you have access to the back. That said a true wall cavity mount is possible you just loose some of the room environmental sensors.

ah that would make sense. Will the Apex related functionality be the same in both models also are they the same size. Look forward to purchasing when available

Both have the same software. The only difference is the additional sensor sweet on the pro version.

Beta is the same as the final factory version however the backplate and cabinet mount are 3D printed. The software is +90% complete with some minor adjustments.

Going forward, for the next 1-2 months, inital buyers will largely be voting on and trying out additional features not currently displayed. They then get a discounted price as early adopters.

What am I missing about the IOS and Android compatibility? Isn’t this a standalone piece of hardware/software?

It is as a device. I would think the app that is IOS or Android is for the customization and to configure the device on the local network

Same device.

It's easier to develop for ios because they have more consistency in the platform. As such we originally announced only being available to ios and had to make a separate announcement from people asking when we were confident Android was working.

What excites me about this is Avidaqua insight will be dedicated to working on a UI for display and some frequently used functionality. And basically the sky is the limit. If you look beyond what the hardware form factor is today.

As I compare the controllers … I would say Apex is Appleisk and Hydros androidisk in terms of over generalizing.
I hope Hydros also provides local network level root access to Avid aqua that would bridge the gap
