It's official, i am a rimless tank club member. (1 Viewer)

the reason i picked the 160 over the 200, the 200 is hotter seller at the store.
second, i want a bigger second chamber for acclimation and reactors.
Third, i want to limited myself, so i won't add too many fishs.:gay1:

Fair enough!

Li, that tank is looking sweet, beautiful! Who built it for you?!?

You're probably better off with the 160..... Its probably better sized for your system. You won't go through the skim like mad for a few months, and then slowly skim less, and skim less, like I get with my BK...... I should have went smaller and saved some $$$

concept is doing my tank. i am very happy with the service so far. always answer call and email back within 24 hours.
i am going to do vodka dosing, so the 160 should keep up with that.

i am also doing 100% dry rock for the main display, i am done with fighting aiptasia all the time. i dont want to keep a copperbanded in this tank because the carpet anemone.

150lbs will slide pretty easily and then its cracked tank. Better safe then sorry. Trust me I know from experience.
yeah, had that thought as well, but once it filled up it weight about 150 lbs, i think i will be fine, as long as i keep it safe til then. :gay1:

i just get a spacer to put between the 2 tanks, should be about to keep them from moving.
yes, better safe then sorry.

Here's my list of deepwater acros i wanted, LMK if i missed anything or should go for something else. i only want 8-10 acros.
1. Acro. Efflorescens
2. Acro. Echinata (Ice&Fire)
3. Acro. Granulosa (ORA Phil's)
4,5. Acro. Lokani (20,000L & 30,000L)
6. Acro. Loripes
7. Acro. Simplex (ORA Dustin's Deepwater?)

All nice ones! As far as granulosa's go... while I like the ORA one, it's just ok. IMHO, the maricultured granulosa's smoke the ORA. I had a nice yellow, A elegans, but it died. It's a flat tabling acro.... I'm going to try to get a couple more frags in at some point... Efflos... don't get me started. I don't know how many $500 efflos I've gone through, the last started to grow really well, and then it tn'd on me.... I love loripes! My blue/purple one also puked on me.... (tanks a bit unstable recently).....

Great choices...

i prefer ORA over maricultured, cleaner and safer.
my $500 efflos did the same, finally start to grow, then RTN.:mad_3:

Boy i here you on that! I picked up over 200lbs of LR close to 6 years ago for a great price, and been fighting ever since them aiptasia. Mostly good from the display, but they love the sump!

BTW, nice looking tank, love that starphire glass, so clear!

I'm right behind you... the rimless acrylic is almost ready to be up. The aiptasia I am still working on, just when I thought I had them all, a bunch more showed up. I'm going to try and get my hands on some berghia. My rock is just that good!

I might as well jump on the bandwagon although I have to say that my current plague is not aiptasia, I had 3 peppermint shrimp (presumably, I didn't witness them clear out every piece but I'm now free of them for months) take care of that for me. But now I'm stuck with hydroids.

100% base rock for my next tank with some very carefully selected and quarantined non-porous (tonga branch or the like) live rock to seed it.

Nothing is ever perfect but I hope I'm putting myself in a better position than I was for my current tank. When I first started pests were sort of a myth to me, I had no idea how prevalent they actually were.

is there a reason why you have the overflow slightly off center rather than center............
