Japanese tanks! (1 Viewer)

So in a nuttshell could someone describe the principles of the standard Japanese Style Tank?

I'm seeing/guessing:
Heavy Feeding
Heavy Skimming
Heavy Water Changes
High Water Flow
Open Style Aquascaping
Spot Lights

Not sure I'm the guy to say, but I'll take a stab....
- less live rock
- open aquascape ala feng shue
- spot lights with different colored bulbs
- high par levels ( I think Rainbow Lagoon has 20-some spots)
- strong nutrient export ( big skimmers, plenum systems)
- mature colonies

Going back to the spotlights...

What is really big difference, or the idea behind them? Is it to peak different colors?

Yeah, I think that's a big part of it and to penetrate the large colonies sothe undersides don't die off.
