The real reason for the change is that like sand, less than 36" deep is for girls

I got an amazing deal on the tank I could not turn down.

I'm thinking I need to find this deal as I would love to join the 300DD club.
Congrats!

Actually I have always been a no sand advocate, I remember one of my first posts being about it and getting really ripped upon because I took that position on this forum, now it seems to be getting more popular :)
Also I made James life miserable with ridicule about it :)

Well I have been running AIO biopellets for 7 months now and I can say they are a great product , I have not run GFO since Jan last year. PO4 is always zero on my Martin PO4 tester and nitrates sit @ 2-5 which for me is a sweetspot I feed ridiculous amounts of food :)
I thought I would test with the Hanna ULR kit today just as a reference, this is the lowest reading I have ever got I repeated the test three times with the same result.

Remind me, Jon.

With the all in one pellets, it is pretty important to run the output through a sock, right? Because the GFO is constantly being 'released' so to speak as the pellets wear down?

I had considered running those, and I may still. It would take some thinking to figure out how to get the output from the reactor that I like to run to pump through a sock.

And since you know me to be a lazy reefer, that is why you told me to ditch the sand, it likely won't happen for a long while.

Yea, you have to run AIO pellets through a sock. I've been running them for a few weeks, no major impact yet. Hence the 'you suck' comment. :)

They take a long time to kick in, dose vinegar or what ever carbon dosing regime you do until they do. I have found that once they kick in the residue drops to very little and you could almost go without a sock .

I thought I would post some after the return pump failure pics, colors look ok away , just going to be in a holding pattern till I setup the new tank. Pics suck right of the iPhone:(

Migrated to Red Sea Colrs and energy program this week set it all up with a Kore 5th doser with "Drop Dose" for the colors and a mini fridge and the Libra stepper motor doser for the energy components.

We'll have to compare results after some time dosing these additives.
Nice job on incorporating the refrigerated Reef Energy supplements.

Sorry to hear about the clams.
When they're doing well, they're the fastest growing inhabitants in the tank. When they're not doing well, they can crash in a hurry.

Your fish room looks like a science lab!

Do you have to wear the lab coat when you're doing maintenance?

Awe man, sucks to hear about the clams.

I'm guessing you caught that hogfish? How are things going otherwise?
