Not 100% sure but a good guess would be pH. As lime is an acid (low pH) it may have an affect on your pH.

Yep! Got them from a guy in Brooklyn off craigslist as well. He said they were coral, I gave another member here some as well thinking it was coral so (Richard Nixon) throw it away! Sorry buddy. Jay over at DA told me it was manjano....here all along I thought it was coral. :swear::swear::swear:

I figured that out a couple day's later and tried to pull it off with some tweazers and it sprayed me in the face so i burned it off with a bic worked good, sill got one more thats pretty small to get but otherwise a good rock of zoas still!

I had a patch of them several years ago and smothered them with a thick kalk paste.
