Maxreefer's Elos "The 2nd" (1 Viewer)

wow nice but i think we all want to know whats cost for the light? or maybe the whole system so far

Hey guys, please let's stay cool on the "number" thing.
How much something costs is always subjective no matter if it is a car, clothing, electronics etc. Some people like to spent some extra cash on a car others don't etc. Also quality has mostly a price tag.
Yes the Elos products have a price tag but they are top notch quality. Worth every penny. Before I bought the Elos I did some inquiries regarding a "starphire rimless tank" and contacted a few good manufacturers in the US and Canada and surprisingly they were not cheaper or even more expensive as the Elos tank. The Elos lighting is not much more as the ATI dimmable powermodule (which meets my needs and expectations) and so is the skimmer compared to a top quality one from another brand.

For me this tank is besides a nice tank also a nice piece of furniture, a piece of art I can enjoy while sitting in my living room and not something to show off how much money I spent on this.
Let us just enjoy the nice pictures and progress and hopefully soon the livestock instead of talking numbers...;)

P.S. The links above guide you to a complete system and another one to sump/skimmer. The complete system includes the sump/skimmer and is not extra.

Very nice, Michael.

Is that light fixture made specifically for elos tanks, or would it fit on others?

I see the glass panels front and back to cover the tank, does it also have glass on the ends so fish can't jump out there? Doesn't look like it. So, you have 4 little pie wedge type areas they could jump through?

I was once told, 'fish are talented'.....hope you have good luck. you are 98% covered...

Just posted the links to show that if someone really is curious about the numbers, or was interested in getting one themselves, it's not difficult to find out. Whether that is actually what you paid or not is really nobody's business.

ELOS is and has always been top notch. Personally if I had the pockets to do it, I'd love to have one of their tanks!

My apologies if I offended anyone by posting the links.

This is shaping up to be one of my favorite build threads so far!

Michael, one of the nicest systems I have ever seen. Sleek, clean lines-that lighting/canopy is one of the nicest I have ever seen. I have been looking for a lighting system that is enclosed, finished and yet maintains that cube of water effect and yours certainly satisfies that. Impressive.

I agree that the numbers are your business and should be kept that way.

Is this going to be mixed reef or SPS dominant? What are your livestock plans? I'm following your build after seeing what you did with your smaller Elos system!

Got the skimmer today and installed it.
Really impressed with the quality and little details. Going to borrow a meter to measure the air intake.
Filled up the reactors with carbon and Zeolites.
Ready to start cycling...:beerchug:

Carbon on the left and Zeolites on the right. Will post some more information regarding the Elos Purist Line I am going to run on this tank

Subscribed - first time I have subscribed to a thread in over a year.....already well worth it.

Very nice Micheal - your tanks are amazing everytime :beerchug:

To start the cycle I used a small piece of fresh fish and a very small amount of skimmate from the frag tank.
Started also dosing the Elos Purist Line products.

I was impressed to see the skimmer in action only being a couple hours installed in the sump.
I didn't expected to see any skimmate as there is almost no bioload. Just sand, rocks
and the piece of fish.

After about 3 hours

Is this one of the new elos skimmers using pinwheels now?

Yes it is the new pinwheel skimmer. Not much information out there yet about the performance as it is brand new. My first impression is really good. Very well build. The skimmer comes with 2 different diffuser plates. One has less and bigger holes and the other one with more and finer holes. For now I am using the one with the bigger holes but I will exchange them after a while to see the difference

To take the skimmer cup off do you have to unbolt it? Cant tell from pics..

Nope. The removable top part is just for cleaning purposes. The cup just slides off.

I thought I seen the picture with the cup also, looks very well built thats for sure. I have seen them for sale from one of my suppliers and though on getting one in the near future. Just wanted to compare to other skimmers and products.
