Maxspect Razor (1 Viewer)

Awesome! I have a 20" 16000k coming for my biocube from MarineDepot! I got it during the 10% off a few days ago and I had a $100 gift certificate. Got the light for pretty cheep! It is supposed to arrive on friday so I will post pics and first impressions in this thread!

If I was going to do a 24x24x24 tank and just a few sps would that be ok. Also the light would be going diagonal like the one at swe.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you want it diagonal?

I believe the one at SWE is the 27" Razor which they have hung diagonal on their 24" cube. No overhang plus it runs opposite the corner overflow, so less wasted light over that area.

If you looking to get a Razor you may want to do it in the next week or so. There will be a pricing increase on all Maxspect and Octopus coming soon. (rumor has it)

Does that mean my little octopus skimmer I was looking at will go up in price!?

Yes most likely. I have not been told what skimmers or if all models will be increasing. I was just told that they are increasing MAP pricing on Razors and Octopus.

Here are the PAR readings I got with it.

I really like it so far but I want to see corals color up and grow!

I added a second 160W 10K Razor to my frag tank/sump so now the whole 60g Fleet Farm tub is lit and usable for frags. I have 9 black acrylic frag racks from Rays Reef and adding 3 more tomorrow. Each holds 45 so my frag capacity if every hole filled will a little over 500. So far everything I've put under it since July has colored up well, some items getting better coloration than with the Radions. Probably not a true comparison because frag tank is only visable from above and corals tend to look best from above, Radion is on show where corals are viewed mostly from sides/angle.

Also I put mine on a kill-a-watt over a 24hour period is uses .91 kwh using my current schedule for each unit. Approx $2.73 per month each at my current kwh rate ( but doesn't include taxes ).
