Hi,

Picked up a used apex pro a3 but I can’t get the energy bar to work. The eb832 has blinking orange light which seems to be communication error? Was wondering if anyone have an extra eb832 for me to plug in to see it’s my controller or e832. TIA

Have you got this figured out? I've had similar issues and might be able to help.

It's a connection issue. You can try switching aquabus cables and ports. In my case my Neptune wav shortted out the energy bar and I had to replace it. Unplug everything except the power cord and plug in the A3. If it's still blinking try different ports or cables. Customer service told me at this point if it's still doing it that it needs service. What color is the A3

Yeah tried swapping ports.
Tried multiple resets
Have not tried swapping cables
At this point will just see if I can get a refund and buy another apex that does work. Saw 2 in the classification so may go that route instead.

You can also call Neptune and get an RMA # and send it in ,they will repair it and you pay just for parts. They told me if the A3 is orange and the bar is blinking orange and nothing is plugged into it that it needs service.

So glad it worked out. That is correct they look the same but wired different inside

You may find that the error comes back after a power outage. I've had more than a few of those fail just like that. The low-voltage controller part of the unit goes bad, but the high-voltage side is fine. Every single one I've sent in to be fixed has worked for a while, but then failed again. There is a guy that fixed them online for less than Neptune charges if you find it is worth the time and effort.

Yeah, that's the guy.

Well, the issue was simpler than I thought. All the online research indicated that the aquabus is the same as regular USB cords. Turns out it’s not the same. Tried an actual aquabus and it works now.

The cable is the same, but you cannot use a USB cable that has a signal booster in it. Usually you don't find those until you get over 20' or so. It could be the 1st cable you tried was bad.

I just used a usb cable I had sitting around. there is a difference because the usb I used is like half the diameter of the aquabus. Which makes sense that it would power on my controller but it likely didn’t have all the other internal wires needed for communication.

Idk if it was a usb1.0, usb2.0, or usb3 is there is such a cable. Just glad that the fix was just using the correct cable. So now I have 2 complete apex system. Was about to send in my eb832 in for repair too or buy another one.
