New 120g (1 Viewer)

Great looking tank....
 
I didnt get the emperor,:gay1: the regal is doing great eats frozen and pellets.

the tank was in bad shape a few weeks back due to a alk spike...but its back on track! here is a little video taken today.

That's stunning variety of fish mrlee. Have you noticed any differences in coral growth with the new duo of mp40's? How do you like them?

The Mp40es are a little loud, and not as strong as i would like...but the foot print of the pump is great.

I do a 55g water change once a month.
 
Dang mrlee, looks great. That's better growth than I have ever had. You running all aquablue but one blue+, how long is your photoperiod? You still do 55g water changes? What salt? Tell us your secrets!!

I still do the 55g water change once a month. i use RC the box ones.

light bulb- just changed at 1year old bulb , but next time ill be changing them out at 8months as thats when i saw some fading of sps colors.
-2 bulb comes on at 10:00am-10pm
-2 more at 11:00am-8
-4 more at 12:am-6

There is no real secrets, Sit back and watch it grow...its that easy:biggthumpup: In my almost 2years on tcmas, i have seen many dozens of people upgrading,down grading, in/out of the hobby. And i think that is where many people lose growth time in all the moving around.

So would you buy the pumps again? Buying one mp 40es would be somewhat wasteful, almost need two right away? Or would you go for the more bulky tunze?
 
its not a must have item, The only thing good about the mp40 is its foot print...depending on size of tank one would would work, but two would be best. Even with 2X mp40 in my tank don't seem enough flow in a 120g, but with 2X mp40 in a 75 would be perfect i think.
 
very good, I was thinking about getting 2x mp40 as well, now i have to save up to get the MP60 since my tank is larger. Or maybe do a combo, MP60+MP40

Hmmmm....... The Mp40 max flow rated about 3400gph. You have 2 of them, so total should be around 6800gph. With your 120g tank, it is over 50 times turn over. They should be more than enough for you, unless you didn't turn them on maximum power;). With your 120g tank, it's very hard to turn them on at max power 'cause they will cause a big sand storm in your tank I think. If you have 2 Mp40w, it will make a big different 'cause one on and another one will off. They won't cause the chaotics flows in your tank as the Mp40.
As you said, I like the footprint and wider flows on the Vortech. But I dislike the noises of them. They are very loud when it turn on at around 3/4 its power.

Do you have a few vortechs? Would you not buy them because of the noise? My skimmer is semi loud at the moment.

May be you need the mp60 mrlee.

Did you look at the Asfur angel before getting the emperor? Has your emperor ate anything yet?

I got 2 Mp40w for my 180g and would need another one so it can cover every corner of my tank. But I've decided to go different route. So I sold 1 and keep 1 'cause it can run by its back battery. Currently I used 4 Tunze 6105 with 6205 housing and 1 MP40w on my 180. I'm very happy with the results. I will not run 3 MP40w on my tank 'cause of the noises.
