New Neptune award with all expense paid trip to MACNA! (1 Viewer)

Thank you Capman!!!

If you create a google site - link it here

I will post links as I find them here to include and will upload pics I have to the google site

So far I've gotten no input from anyone on additional content to include. I have plenty I can write, but it would be good to include more than my own experiences.

Thanks. These links should be useful.

I haven't had a chance to get to this, and probably won't be able to finish this tonight. It will be my first priority tomorrow, and should be able to finish this tomorrow

Great to see everyone pitching in on that effort, go DG.

Angie is really milking get presidential win huh... President this, Treasurer that all flaunting it up in her email signature. Next she'll be wanting a motorcade to the frag swap.

Well written! Generous guy indeed. It would be interesting to count how many of us have corals from him. Good luck David!

Capman deserves the major kudos - he did the majority of the work on this - I just helped with info/pics etc

I am totally not above highlighting my MASNA BOD status if it will help in any way to get DG the win he so deserves!!!!

Truly a great write up that proves DG deserves the award.
It's nice to see that some of us lack humility enough to compensate for David.

GOOD LUCK!

In addition to finding a bunch of the links (as you see in the earlier post in this thread) and suggesting a bit of content, LowersMyPB also did several very careful proof readings and found and corrected a few awkward sentences and typos that had slipped past me. This was very helpful. It can be so hard to properly proof read something that you have written yourself, especially when in a hurry. Mistakes in your own writing sometimes slip right past you because you know what you meant to say and sometimes fill in the gaps in your mind, even if, say, a word is missing from the page.

Angie suggested some content and found a few links too. Most importantly though, the photos were Angie's idea, and she found a bunch of photos of David for me to choose from to insert into the document. I think the photos transformed this into a much nicer document. Angie also checked all the links to make sure they worked and went to the right places.

(And David himself unwittingly helped by posting that really nice photo of his soft coral tank in his soft coral tank thread a while back!)

This was written in a hurry, but a lot of effort was put in to making the best case possible given the time we had to put this together.

Thanks so much for all the hard work!!!!!!!!!

You guys - if David doesnt get this I will truly be shocked - the submission is top notch and Grigor is exactly what they called for in the award

I have a fair bit of experience writing letters of recommendation for students, and in reading (and writing) job applications (e.g. for faculty positions), so I kind of have a handle on how such things tend to be written (at least in certain contexts).

And our collaboration on this really helped a lot! I think we had a good number of good people involved - too many more and the process of putting this together would have probably become unweildy.

I'm sure we could have written an even better nomination document with more time. Indeed, each time I read it I see further revisions I wish I could make to make this read better or to strengthen our case further. But I would be surprised if they receive many (if any) submissions that were put together this carefully.

And of course, most importantly, we had great material to work with!

Now we just have to wait and see what happens.

We just a couple days over 1 month to MACNA 2015 DC - anyone else heading there (other than Grigor)?
Nice, Angie, with Friday night comes liquid confidence!!!

Tick Tock, 3 more days till we find out. Going to have to be some pretty extraordinary person out there to beat David out for this award. I enjoyed working on the letter because David deserves it and he has done plenty for me in the past. Bill did the heavy lifting, make no mistake about that. The collection of links in that letter is just crazy. Even crazier is to think that it is incomplete, there are plenty other things that could have been linked in.

Really hoping he wins, it will have provided me with a way to finally give something meaningful back to the guy.

"Tick Tock, 3 more days till we find out."

Wow, this is a fast turn around time.

I wonder how many nominations they received?
