How much are you raising your alk over two days? BRS says limit it to 1.3 dkh per day or something like that, right? Seems like a lot of solution to be adding to 30 gallons is all.

What was the Hannah value that you converted on your alk test? That test is so easy, I would run it again to double check. I don't know what others do, but I rinse the test tube with tank water before doing the test. I don't want any residual tap or RO water in there.

I can tell you that I doubt your test results. Only because with consistent and equal dosing, every few months I have to catch my calcium up, not my alk. Every tank is different though, of course.

Note: I asked for the Hannah value because I wondered if you didn't convert to ?mql? Instead of dkh

The process I did was added tank water to test vile, zeroed the hanna. Then added 1ml of the solution. Then tested . Came up with 95. Using a converter got 5.32 I think it was. Then used brs reef calculator. Said 73 ml. Then divided it by 4. Thinking 1 may only do 1 dose per day over 4 days. Better for ph. And then dk wont rise to quick. When I tested with my other kit 2 days ago dk was at 6. So im was not surprised by tbe results of the hanna. I have some sps that are recedding on the base. I dont detect acro eating flat worm, and cant prove the star fish are eating them. So my next step was peramiters. Alc has always been low. Just tried to keep up with water changes. Never check mag until today when I got my kit.

Ok, you are on it then. Surprised by the high calcium then, but must just be your tank.

ALK is the only thing I test regularly. Once, if not twice a week. Calcium every 1 to 3+ months, magnesium probably only once or twice a year. My ALK is usually only between 6.7 and 8. I try to keep it around 7.2.

Good luck, spreading it out more is wise.

Some new things going on. Finished my 4th dose of alk yesterday morn. Checked all perameterd and alk was 9.13, and calcium was 400. Added 70 ml of calcium. Magnesium was 1440. So im going to wait 1 week, then recheck. Divide what ever I need to add to get back to the levels I want by 7 and that hopefully will be my daily dose rate.

Also today I orderes my halaquin shrimp. Should be in tuesday. Ill make sure to get some pics if I can.

Just today I saw a post suggesting that local clubs should "Please start a rent a Harlequin Shrimp program." to share the cost and keep the little guy feed fat and happy. Maybe you could give it a try?

Well I have seen the new shrimp eating starfish with my own eyes. But its gonna be a slow process.

on another note, after 7 days I checked my peram today. Alk was way low as I expected 5.1 down from 9.1. And calc was 400 down from 450. So I will spend the next few days getting them back up then start my daily dosing. Thats gonna get old fast. Prob better start looking into auto drip. Lol. Never ends....

Im not worried on easy of use, its the I have no where to put it. I tried to talk wifey into sharing the cabinet above the tank, that didnt go over well. Lol. That slowely went into time for a tank upgrade. Lol . I got the look on that one. I will try manual dosing, when she sees how crazy the growths gets she may change her mind.

Daily dosing is going well. I have not forgot yet. Lol. Picked up what I believe to be a flower pot coral from pet land in oakdale. Went there to pick up some pet rats for the kids and seen it in there look down tank. Red one. Looks good so far. Polyps have not come out yet. After dipping yesterday. Also picked up some long skirted yellow zoas. From forest lake pets. Seen what looked like a slug in the bag. Dipped the heck out of this one. Lol. Tank is looking awesome. I really want to add a few wrasses. But after the loss of the fairy due to the clown bullying. Gonna have to wait. If they were not hosting some large palys they would prob be gone. Not much more to share.

Modded a ac 50 today and added to tank. The biggest I coild fit behind the tank. Lol. Loud. Rattles a bit hope it quiets down. Niw I figure out what I want to put in there. Any ideas?
