new Tank (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone. Been away for awhile. Work has been really busy. Managed to not kill off my tank so far in the process. What's new?.... I have added a copper band to the tank. Awesome fish. He has cleared out any small aptasia I've seen and all feather dusters. I have Sen him eat pellets and mysis. So fingers crossed. Also trying to sell a harlequin shrimp. It has also cleared out all small starfish in my tank. The one I believed to be eating my zoas. So if you know anyone looking for one contact me please. Last has been this 2 part. Trying to manually dose is a joke. Between forgetting and not being home. Had bug spikes. Lost a few smaller Coral frags. But nothing major yet. So the home is to start using a brs doser. Problem I have is all need to fit in my hood. Since I have no sump or closed stand. But hopefully I'll have this figured out in the next few weeks. I will try and get some pics up soon. I think you'll be surprised to see the size of my chalice. Need to be fraged very soon. Thanks for reading my novel and happy 4th.

Today was the day..... now we are set for auto 2 part. Yeaaaaa. I have 2 brs dosers pluged I running. Need to get jugs for the 2 part bit running ro now to see if she works corectly. Im so excited. On a bad note. Been feeding mysis to the tank to keep cb eating and now rest of fish only want that. They wont eat flakes or pellets. Dang babies. Lol

I wonder how that went over. Seems you have expanded beyond the limits of the hood/canopy and are now invading your wife's kitchen cabinets?

I actually had plans to do shallow containers from brs and they would fit nice in my canopy. Hard to refill. But doable. And have room for dosers. But a bit close to the light s.Think it made her nervous. Prob why so eager to sshare.

Well some trouble in reef town.
Lost a cleaner shrimp, didn't notice, added the coper band who ate all feather dusters and few aptasia. And added auto doser. All this happend about the same day. Never notice shrimp died. Came home from a short camping trip after 2 weeks of having the above done. To find all snails upside down. Weird cause never have that happen. Did a water change. And buisness as usuall. Next week or so found snails same way about every day and then my urchin stoped moving and harlequins shrimp stopped moving about. Did a water change. Pulled all snail, and urchin and shrimp. Then waited...... today almost 3 week in did a phosphate test. All bad news. The problem I figure is the dead shrimp and maybe a dead snail made water toxic. And never seen them for weeks. Now I think I have a handle on things. Doing many water changes and wait it out. I have lost about 3 good size colonies that only have tips left. Kind of bummed. But kid is happy he's getting lots of frags.

Big water change today. And frag the death off the corals :( water being made fir another wc in a few days. Corals already looking better from a week ago. So I think I have this nipped in the butt. Only time will tell. Happy that I didn't loose and fish though.

Tough luck. SPS in a small system is always a difficult game, it seems to me.

Watch your ALK closely. With corals lost and big water changes, if you haven't adjusted your dosing, it is likely going up on you....

Tank doing much better lost parts of some colonies but frag off the death and now back to buisness. No changes. Added a few frags from a buddy. But that's all. Auto dosing is going so much better. No new plans moving forward. Fraged a few peices that were starting to grow onto other corals. And that's it. Try and get some pics up soon if I remember how to.

Finally fragged my chalice. Man I took it out and set it on a paper plate to help keep water from going all over.it was hanging over the sides. Lol. Made some nice big peices. those peices are at least 2" long.
