Thought up a small solution, hear me out. What if you guys did a 30 day free trial membership with access to everything. And if the newbie sees all that tcmas has to offer then they will more likely to join. This will keep traffic coming, kinda like test driving a car before u buy. This won't relate to the ones already here but will affect future growth I think? I know people can change emails and reregister but I believe that can be minimized through your IT guys somehow.

Just another thought, so stop with the red rep thingys!

As stated before, you will need to bring up any thoughts or suggestions at the next business meeting. Nothng can be done, nor will it be done until then.

Unfortunately I don't have too much time with four screaming kids and a hectic schedule, not an excuse just reality. Posting it up are just ideas for other members to take into consideration and may be able to bring it to the meetings if they like the idea. If not no biggie...

Thought I'd re post this before I run out of space in my PM box. . . lol

- If you have the time to play "Salesman" then you have enough time to drive out to a meeting or can afford a measly $30.

Anyone who says their forced into paying can just leave right now and then I will have made Alunai's point that you aren't forced to so stop complaining.

Wow, you are just trying to win friends and influence people all over the place. First you accuse us of violating the bylaws. In case you don’t get it, and it appears more and more that you may not, that’s a pretty serious accusation, it is illegal to violate the bylaws. If true, it is sufficient cause to start a lawsuit and remove board members. Now you accuse me of hypocrisy. Nice.

You've had two lawyers and the authors of the bylaws explain it to you, and yet you persist in your language and have only heated it up. This is my last post on the issue, as I sincerely doubt you are interested in honest discussion on it.

No, I really am not, the classifieds ARE a source of education for newbies,

I didn’t say they weren't a source of education, its irrelevant to whether or not we've violated the bylaws. I said even if they are a source of education, which is tenuous at best, it isn't a violation of our bylaws to close them off. You keep accusing me of not understanding you, but it’s beginning to appear that you are the one who doesn't understand the words you've used. To allege a violation is to allege that we should (or could) get sued and that a court would order us to do it your way:

Bylaws organize a corporation so that basic operating processes are uniform as long as the corporation exists. Bylaws are not usually filed with the state like articles of incorporation but violation of bylaws may result in civil suits by shareholders or other officers.

There is absolutely no legal principle that requires an organization to undertake each and every method of performing the goals in its bylaws that someone, somewhere, makes some remote argument would help meet that goal. Even if, every now and then, a classifieds sale does help exchange knowledge, it is hardly the only way. If you were correct, that simply because once upon a time, or even several times, knowledge was exchanged, and fellowship promoted, that would not require us to keep classifieds open to everyone. If that argument would be true, we would also be REQUIRED to write a few books, have a radio show, a podcast, meetings at bars to promote fellowship (and of course paid for by the club, as we can clearly see that spending $30 is too much for some), etc., etc., as those are all BETTER means of providing education or fellowship than the one you complain about.

This is hypocrisy at it's finest, plain and simple. Just because we are not writing books, does not mean we should be closing venues that DO help newbies further their knowledge base in this hobby. Doing so only weakens our position morally as a club.

Should???? That is what it comes down to isn't it? You think we SHOULD do it differently then the Board thinks it should do it. As I keep trying to explain to you, that isn't even remotely a "violation" of the bylaws, which is what you allege. That you think we can better do it, that you would exercise judgment differently – this is a cause for politics, for stepping up, running for the board, stating your vision, and then doing it differently. It is not a “violation” of the bylaws, it is not legal issue, which is what you keep alleging.

True, we are not required to do anything, but going against our mission statement only serves to weaken the club as a whole. At any rate, what is all this business about suing? Nobody even implicated that a lawsuit is in order here, it's a straw man argument that only serves to distract from the real issues here.

Actually, by your language you did. Again, alleging a violation of the bylaws is to allege a serious dereliction of duty by the BOD, and to suggest that a lawsuit is in order. If you don’t understand what the words you used mean, you need to tone down your language. Its inflammatory. I’m just responding to what you said, deal with it.

Wow, I chose to stay away from this thread and its running in the old circles. Doesnt matter what I think but the BODs MODs have done an excellent job, Kudos! and announcements like this this should be left open for a day or two for comments and then closed. Anyone who wants to change a current decision should show up at a business meeting and help make a better future.

LOL I wonder what learning happens in parking lots of gas stations, malls or grocery stores... most cases that's where the transaction happens (more likely than not so it works for both parties) and would be quick.

Patent, stop trying to be a superhero Lawyer it's not working, you are so far off base with all of this that it doesn't even warrant a retort, get over yourself you are barking up the wrong tree, heck, the tree you are barking up isn't even in the same forest.

Don't worry, if this goes to court you can always plead insanity. I'm sure once they read your posts they will accept the plead. :icon_drool:

The tree he's barking up is the one you planted. If that's not the tree you intended, you need to work on expressing yourself better because regardless of your intent, that is what you posted.

Guys, I apologise for bumping this thread I should have sent a PM. Lets just let this drop. I really just wanted to know if there was an update on the donations.

Thread closed. I'm done watching all the BOD bashing. If you don't like how things are run, there are elections coming up. If you are:

1) Too busy
2) Too inconvenienced, or
3) Too good

to run for the BOD, then you have no right to incessant complaining. Maybe none of the other MODs or BOD will say it, but I'm sick and tired of reading it.
