GFO is always helpful sometimes. However I stopped running it on my 180 at home and has not made a difference...

I had GFO running from the very beginning of the setup. have not run it for over 6 months and still no algae. Could be the Rabbitfish and 2 tangs though... :gay1:

Ok, gotcha. I'm just wondering if i've got some phosphates being released from the dry pukani I used in the tank. I'm not too concerned over the HA actually, planning on at least one tang anyway.

Really wanna kick the dino's though, that's ugly!

Good cleaning crew will help also. Rabbifish are amazing if you keep them well fed. ;)

Cleaning crew should be somewhat decent but will probably need to add more. They tend to disappear over time. :)

I don't think nitrates are that high, they're testing 5 or less always, 10 max before a recent waterchange. The chaeto is growing like crazy so is keeping them down I think, as it should.

The skimmer is doing a good job too, so not sure what else I can do at this point but wait it out.

Also running a filter sock and changing that out weekly if not more.

New pics and additions (pics taken under B+ bulbs only):

Also added a green devil's hand leather (it fell over so couldn't get a good pic) and One-Spot Foxface Rabbitfish

The elegance is HUGE and awesome with nice bright breen polyps and purple tipped tentacles. It has a neat z shape to it as well. Hopefully I can get better pics of it as it opens up and gets better acclimated. Thanks Garrett!

It's getting better with each day, the first week it was pretty closed up. We were nervous! But since then it's gradually gotten better. I don't know if we'll be able to keep it in that spot forever, it might need more room to spread. :)

We are now algae free and everything seems to be thriving and growing!

Current stocklist in order of addition:

Six-line Wrasse
One Spot Foxface Rabbitfish
Powder Brown Tang

Where am I at for stocking levels, as in...how many more could I add and size?

No plans to add more real soon, just curious on people's thoughts.

I haven't been able to keep N and P down as far as I'd like it with regular waterchanges. So I thought I would give an ATS a go. I don't know if it will work or if I'll like it so I tried to go as simple/cheap as possible so as not to put too much effort into it.

If it turns out I like it, then I may consider something more elaborate, but for now this will do.

Here is my plumbing/sump area prior to installation:

The skimmer does a decent job and it will stay in operation indefinitely:

My return line was already tee'd to feed the fuge, so I simply modified that and build a simple pvc ATS stand:

I had one light that was suitable that lit the fuge already, so bought another one to light the other side of the scrubber:

That's pretty much the extent of it. We'll see how it goes. A couple other pics of it:

I just used some old shower curtain rings I had to attach the screen:

Thats a great idea with the shower rings. Let me know how you like the scrubber and how well it works.

Here's the screen after one week in operation prior to cleaning:

Nitrates were 20 last time I tested before implementing the ATS, still testing at 20, but the ATS hasn't really kicked in yet. Most of the stuff on the screen was just brown slime.

I only have an API kit for Phosphates so they've never really registered. I could MAYBE see it at .25 if I tried but I'm just going to have to assume the ATS is taking care of the phosphates as well eventually.
