Peng's 75 gallons of Awesomeness. (1 Viewer)

Yeah Brian, after seeing your tank and putting my T5's back up, i can't stand the look of T5's anymore. For some reason the color isn't as "crisp". And I wanted a dimmable option kit that way i can change the color to a bluer look when my corals are finally colonies.

I have always wanted a 75gallon and this is probably the biggest I'll go until i am out on my own. I am actually building this tank slow because I want this tank to turn out good. :goldfish:

Way to go, bro:biggthumpup:

I think you still need T5 for supplement though. The LED will bring the shimmery look and T5 bring more color to your corals. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, I do notice that with t5's the colors are a bit more bold. I'll look into that.

You have gate valve for herbie, right? looking nice

That was my question, I know a lot of people say use gate valves. But i can't find any gate valves at the LHS. And I beleive that the ball valves will work, maybe not as precise, but it should none the less work. I have a few 1" ball valves laying around im thinking about using.

You will not be happy using a ball valve. They bind up and are not exact enough to fine tune a Herbie. On my set up the difference between bubbles and no bubbles can be as little as 1/16 of a turn on the gate valve.

Anyone know where I can get a nice 1" slip PVC Type II Gate Valve locally?

I should be doing homework but i finished up my sump. I have always had my sump baffles (.100 acrylic) bend when i filled it with water so this time around i found a way to support it so it won't no longer bend. Instead of buying glass and having them custom cut i figured i'll save on costs so I used 1/2" pieces of pvc and put them between each baffle all the way to the glass. Issue solved.

I got mine from SWE- can't recall which one it is, but works fine. As mentioned ball valve would be too tricky for very fine adjustments

Success! SILENT overflow and no bubbles :)

Going to run this tap water until tomorrow. Then i'll be putting the RODI unit to work. Add salt, sand, some live rocks, and wait for the LEDs and Skimmer to show up. Then it's stocking time :greenguy::goldfish::beerchug::biggthumpup:

before everything is all done i would do a fake power outage, just unplug everything to see where the amount of water ends up in the sump. it looks like you wont have very much for any water left over in the overflow. i have a about 8" to the top of my sump for any emergency.
what are your plans for top off?
you'll have to keep a close eye your evaporation due to your area where your pump is very small maybe to hold a gallon of water.

just some things to think about.

Thanks for the heads up but I already did and holds just enough to not overflow the sump.

Ato is a float switch hooked up to a small return pump in a 30+ gallon drum.

The return area holds 3gallons

For the most part i finished the aquascape for the left side. Once i transfer everything over from the 15 gal, i'll finish the left side.
