Project: Ricordea Rock (1 Viewer)

I was thinking of fish lines, but can splice through Rics, I've seen it happen, because it has to be tight enough to hold them in place and that can cut them, to loose and off they go.

I may do the pantyhose trick...but I'm afraid of the light not passing through enough

I have super glued my rics to rocks. I just did nine of them two weeks ago and didn't lose any. I am caeful to keep the glue just to the base of the ric and nowhere else. I have done many zoanthids this way and never lost any of those either. Rics and sps are my favorites. If you ever want to trade some rics for sps just let me know.

Thanks Stan...I hope to get into SPS later on. I'm just not setup for it yet...My waterflow is low to med and I would run T5's if I'm running SPS and LPS, instead of MH, just my preference

That rock rocks! and with as good as it looks probably way less spendy than acans.
Really cool man!

I've got a couple ricordea that aren't attached to anything. There's a very thin layer of hard, crusty stuff on its underneath. What is the best way to secure them to rubble or live rock?
I tried tie one but it worked its way free.
With strong water movement in the tank, they just don't stay put where I want them to be.
Anyone?

thin Pantyhose...light still penetrates through it...I have very little flow when I'm trying to attach any shrooms...Thin pins also work...Worst case senerio super glue

I just super glued 4 more onto a rock with no adverse affects. The polyps were open and full within a few hours. I think they dislike being out of the water about as much as the super glue.

All right...I'm going to have to look in to getting some of these guys!

update on Ric Rock...Well about 10 are gone...and the rest are somewhere in the tank, lol, most of them stuck on until I put it back in my main tank and the flow seemed a bit to much and most came off...I'm probably going to create a smaller in tank ric rock with only about 5 of them. Here is the updated photo.

Once I get rid of the frag crate, I will be scaping the right side.

All of the right side will be mostly shrooms as you can see at the moment. Rics, Rodactis, hairy, Blue/Reds, yumas, etc.

It will fill in. It took my blue ones forever to decide to start growing, but once they did, they have basically covered the rock they are on.

oh...I'm not worried about the growth part...I kno they will eventually cover the rock...The rics now are around 3-3.5 in. fully open...quite a few have multiple mouths
