Took all day to get it to this point. I was going to put 40gal of RODI in it last night, but lost my energy and went to go play in the snow.

I still need to build the internal plumbing, balance the tank, get a valve for the reactors, hang the Radions.... And the list goes on.

Alright, Marty-pants.... It's wet and pumping. Fish tank is running also.

Full of RODI water and slowly heating up, compliments of the new Finnex HMO line of titanium heaters. (Seems it's just the digital control that's changed..?)

Borrowed the "Durso" drain from my Marineland 125gal ReefReady.

So far it's quiet, but I will be making some modifications for the air intake line. Drill a bigger hole, add a wider airline with a valve on the end so it's fully adjustable.

Haha, they are a pretty good sound buffer, although there's not too terribly much needing buffering. I imagine, through this first year, the best thing to look at will be "under the hood".

Picked up some giant Pukani pieces from Bulk Reef Supply today. They're damn good at picking choice pieces matching my request!

Laying out the scape.

Got the final scape in the tank. I used some fiberglass rods to mount the overhang and another piece.

I just wrote a note in my purchase comments, asking for two large chunks around 17"-19" wide. I under estimated the weight, so Carter called me to bump up my lbs and get an idea of what I was after.

They picked perfectly, although I was only able to use one. Now I have a giant hunk for a future build/trade.

Thanks! I really wanted plenty of real estate for long branching sticks And tabling acros.

I'm thinking the main structure will be all sticks. The bigger "island" will be blastos/acans/and a sexy gold torch.

The small "foot" will be strictly Zoas, probably 6-7 varieties.

The "cave" (and future partial sand bed) in the front and around the right side will be for scoly/clam/trachy/Welso/fungia plates/Chalice...etc.

Thanks! There was only one small part that I epoxied. (The two rocks that make the left side overhang.). For that I used standard plumber's epoxy.

To attach it, and the right side rock "jut", I used 1/4" fiberglass rods (trimmed to size). The rods I got from Menards, listed as "chimney sweep extension rods"......I've used driveway marker rods before, but they only had the orange ones.

Yeah I saw you used the rods it should make for a pretty solid bad ass structure. Now you just have to fill all those pukani holes with coral plugs!

Bam! Yep, it's going to take quite a bit to fill in. I've got a few choice pieces in my frag tanks that will end up moving in here. Of course, there's the obligatory "cycle" wait....

But I'm really waiting for my ReefRaft USA order to arrive before I think too hard about coral stocking. I've had a standing order with them since Xmas, but the weather has continually pushed back the shipping date.

Haha... Funny you just posted that. The wife and I are discussing fishes at this very moment.

I know, for sure, I'm doing 5 threadfin/blue eyed cardinals.

I'm a tang fanatic, but some of my favorites I wouldn't put in this tiny tank.

(I Dream of a whitecheek/Achilles hybrid!) ....

But a young Whitecheek/Goldrim, I would entertain. I would also jump on a A. Maculiceps...in a heartbeat. Those, or Powder Brown or an Atlantic Blue would be the only Acanthurus I would want.

In addition to the Acanthurus, I would also do some kind of Zebrasoma. Potentially a Red Sea Sailfin. I've had purples, sailfins, and yellows, but Zebrasoma doesn't have a big group to choose from.


I have two mature, breeding, Darwins to add as well. I'll be moving the giant Sebae anemone up here for them to host and keep the reproduction going.


Lastly, I may do a rock dweller. I've had pseudochromis that love the Pukani rock work, but they've always been ***holes. I'm thinking maybe an orchid dottyback, but adding it very last so it lowers its territorial dominance may do the trick.
