urchins cause trouble in nanos imo...knock rocks/corals over, take up too much valuable space. id just take a scraper to the algae and call it good. ditch that stock skimmer too can never get those dialed in right...tunze 9002 with low pro cup works tits or a hydor nano skim that works pretty good on my 30g. also dont sweat the t5 retro there are a lot of write ups online to explain or bring the hood and materials down here and a we'll get it done.

AGREED!

I might have to take you up on that.

No, I always have the water level as high as possible, it has nothing to do with water level.
it was my tank, i sold it to you. trust me i had an ato and never had a problem with it, took about a week to get it set and never touched it again

I know, but water level isn't the factor, since it's always 100% full. I manually top it off everyday.

i talked with my buddy tonight who did a t5 retro in his rsm. he gutted the hood down to nothing and chopped up 2 old two bulb 18" t5 fixtures and swapped everything in. he said options are limited with 18" t5 bulbs so he ran uvls and had great growth. i asked him if it was worth the trouble and he said NO. we both agreed that the hood sucks to begin with and if you have an ato evaporation is a non issue. basically i apologize for getting your hopes up but i think your better off running a halide pendant or 24" t5 fixture with no hood if you want better lights.

The tank is getting extremely dirty, I just ordered my Clean up Crew from Reefcleaners, so that should get here sometime this week.... I'm afraid of scraping the algae off the glass cause theres so much and I'm sure it'll just make the algae mulitply.

I'm still looking for advice on how to set up the timer, as i've never understood it..

and MAYBE just MAYBE, looking for some one to help me stick a couple of bright blue LED's in the hood..

Hey guys been a while since I updated this. Not much has changed, I've decided to run the system skimmer less for now because I still have the micro bubble problem whenever I run the skimmer it's fairly, scratch that extremely annoying... I should figure out where to pick up the tubing for it....

I've been battling some algae, so I just did a 10gal water changed and scraped off a fair amount of algae.

Also I've been talking to a member here who can help me do a DIY LED retrofit just need to come up with the $250 first... That would be SAWEET..

Maybe if your lucky I'll post some pictures later tonight when the tank clears up.

Also new growth on the corals,
eagle eyes are up to 3 polyps, (started at 2)
Fire and ice are up to 10 polyps, (started at 5)
the unkown zoas are up to 34 polyps (started at 15)
