And in a related note...I've got green slime algae, pretty bad. I'm skimming heavily but dry, and i blow the algae off the rocks daily. I have 4,200 GPH from my powerheads, so I don't think flow is the issue.

Here is what i was thinking...

1. Buy Clint's MP10s to supplement flow
2. Buy a BRS GFO Reactor
3. Vodka Dose

Watcha think?

Well I bought the GFO reactor and hooked it up, Im running half the recommended GFO amount, so I don't shock the tank with a sudden drop of PO4.

MP10 will not work on a 120gal tank, glass is too thick. Vodka dose should be your last resort IMO.

I am putting together a 75gal close loop with Hiatt bacteria filter method in cannister next month and no PT skimmer. Just got all the parts. Hope my turn out just as well as your. :beerchug:

Be sure to post a build thread! Good luck and look forward to seeing it man!

Really love you taste in corals.

I was wondering how you mounted your brs reactor? Did you mount it to the stand

Thanks!

I'll take pics of the reactor when I get out of bed.

Here are the pics.

Ryan thanks! The wood on the stock tanks isn't as thick as yours. Did you end up clamping the return on the GFO reactor so it can't spring up? Also, I have 3 sponges in my reactor, did you take 1 out and put GFO in between them?

Thanks again, I bet you can't wait for that Ca reactor!

Nope, no clamps. Just whatever BRS gave me (except the screws to mount it).

There is three in there, but the top sponge is kind of hard to notice.

Your algae problem is due to the natural starting cycle of your tank, just wait a few months and it should clear up on it's own. I would also do bi-weekly water changes to keep you corals and fish healthy until the cycle in done. It would also help to buy a nice size chunk of live rock from a fellow reefer to speed things up. I hope I'm not coming off as a buzz kill just trying to help.
