I ran out of the aquarium silicone while getting my sump baffles put in. I went to Menards and could only find one but it doesn't say aquarium on it.

It's in a blue package says 100% silicone waterproof indoor/outdoor...

Don't risk it. Its really hard to know for sure and even when you do find the confirmed part # online that others use they could have changed the formula since and kill your livestock. 100% silicone can still have mold inhibitors in it.

Unless you know for sure, best just to get the real thing from the LFS than to kill livestock. Marty in his build thread has the name and model of silicone used by a well known aquarium manufacturer.

Go to Menards and buy the DAP 100% Silicone in the blue tube. I have used it many times and is aquarium safe.

Thats what I got. I've tried uploading a pic but tapatalk says the forum has disabled image sharing...

+1 on going to a LFS.

Otherwise, HD has DAP that is specifically aquarium safe(green tube). You will see the aqarium safe logo on the package.

Dap only makes one type of 100% silicone in the blue tube, so if thats what you have, then thats the right one. It comes in several colors, I prefer the black the best.

I'll never chance it. Peace of mind is worth so much more than getting ten times as much silicone as I need.

I thought for sure the newer Menards on 494 by Bloomington would have it but they didn't either. Luckily Home Depot did. I agree, peace of mind was more important to me. I'm at Menards weekly anyway so taking the other stuff back is no biggie lol Thanks guys.

Is that used for Glass - glass only or can it go Glass - acrylic.....

Silicone will not stick to acrylic it will hold it In place if you are using it for baffles in a glass sump but will not stick to the acrylic
