Petco has 30% off (code Save20) today if you buy online and pick up in store.

Get your Instant Ocean and Reef Crystals for pre-price hike cost! Each store might only have a couple buckets but still nice to save $30 or 50

@AquaticAsh can you post these kind of sales in your sponsor forum so our members know?

Yes! Thank you for your feedback! I'll look into all ongoing sales and follow up!

Sorry for the delay on this! I did some digging and I'm working on finding a way to get online sale info to post for everyone in the future. (That's not info that gets sent out to us typically)
In the meantime we'll make sure to post in-store sales and any new arrivals we have coming in as well!

Salt is important. I encourage creative ways we can get sales on salt… volume, truck load sales, whatever

I told my wife to get a few buckets from this sale. I mistakenly told her to just see who had it in stock and buy a few. I was willing to drive to a couple stores to get a few. Three stores later and a half dozen buckets in the car, I likely have enough salt for well over a year because I had a few at home as well.

Are you all using old faithful instant ocean now.

One might even say that...mistakes were made.

Yeah, I use IO, it's cheaper than AquaForest with the Chewy AutoShip discount (~$54/200 gallon box)

I mix IO and Reef Crystals. A little bit cheaper, cleaner and more balanced Mg from my experience.

I mix 50/50 with reef crystals and red sea pro salt. I used to used to do IO and crystals but as my SPS grew, I swapped out IO for red sea.

Makes me feel like I am better protected from ever experiencing a bad bucket of salt.

Nice guys… very compelling. That’s literally half the price

I’m holding on to Accura Sea salt for ease of use. Just dump a bag in the mixing container and voila 50 gallons on sea water. The only thing I don’t like is that Mag is on the lower end, so I just dose ESV mag

Easy is hard to argue with. I stopped using Nyos because I had to heat the water before mixing for it to mix clean without precipitate.

Honestly some of the most successful ppl are using IO , hard to argue it does not produce the desired results. Wonder if they make it in 50 pound bags

No, but they do make 4x 15 pound bags of salt (the 200 gallon boxes, approximately) ;). So 60 pounds total.

And then I think the Aqua Forest box is roughly 55 pounds?

Why not just toss in some Magnesium chloride and Magnesium sulfate to the salt mix to raise the magnesium levels instead?

I don’t know, there is something romantic about dosing bionic … but I do have the calcium and Alk off at the moment after the incident and just using Kalk… currently at 7.7 dkh but raising it really slowly.

The AquaForest I have tried that already. Comes in 5 bags instead of 4… and makes about 35.58 gallons per bag. I would have to switch to weekly and use more salt. Also it was a bad combo for me as I started out with all AquaForest rocks… love the rock, highly porous. However absorbs phosphates initial like a vamp bringing it to zero and combined with AF salt which contains aminos raises your nitrates … I eventually got that under control by zapping half of those rocks and replacing them with my old trustee pukani rocks I brought out of storage.

The way I have it setup right now with the water levels in my sump. When I switch everything off. I am left with exactly 50 gallons in the sump. Throw a utility pump in to drain it dry and fill it up with exactly 50 gallons of Accura 1
