I found this video awhile back when I was researching a Smart ATO so it was in the back of my mind after I installed my Smart ATO.

Over the last couple months I have noticed some of my Zoa colonies not doing so well and couldn't figure it out.

The other night I went to replace my Smart ATO with a Micro Smart ATO and as I was pulling the old one I was telling a fellow reef bud who was hanging out about the video I had seen a while back. Sure enough, the same thing happened to my Smart ATO. Could have been cracked for 3 months or more - note to all - use caution and check the wet side if your using a Smart ATO.

I just noticed this on my Tunze Osmolator and was going to post about it. Do you think the rust is bad for the tank inhabitants?

Just saw this - yes, it is

It's not leaching huge so not catastrophic - but do get it out

Nice pictures!

Remember to check ALL magnets!
My TLF NanoMag rusted out and caused some issues with my nano tank a while back.

Aren't most of us putting rust in our tanks when we run GFO?

Difference being that most of those magnets are neodymium, iron and boron, not just an iron oxide

So is this the case with the micro as well? Or just the regular smart ATO?

This same exact thing happened with my Smart ATO. Piece of crap, would never recommend to anyone.

I have been running the micro since I posted this and have had no issues at all. The way the micro's are built is much better done to avoid this issue.

Coralvue did send me a replacement wet side for the faulty peice from the regular - I wouldnt want to sell it to anyone and have this possibly have this happen to them so I am just hanging onto it as a backup

I am very pleased with the Micro BTW
