Could not be further from expected. Did a 20 agllon w/c and an hour looked over and there was this stringy cloud billowing from one of my "tiger" astreas. (got him from all-reef)

He went for close to ten minutes, now my tank is uber-cloudy. Sure the skimmer will rip it out in notime...

appartently it takes an hour to upload

done,

Must be that time of year. I had the same thing with several of mine. Pretty cool to though. Hard to believe they can fit all that in there...

It's actually pretty easy to get astriea snails to do that. Just get a quart container of sorts put the snail in and sit it up on top of your tank under the lights. The warmer temp swing will trigger it. Learned that from Dr. Shimek when he came to town back around 2000. Mix the sperm and eggs together and just let them sit in a small container with light, no need to aerate or anything.

We had a Turbo snail spawning event very similar to this right after we got them. We were lucky enough to see the tiny green eggs from one and the sperm from another. That was back in March and about a month ago we started seeing oodles of little tiny turbos. Some of those babies are now a good half inch around. We know they eat like pigs and all 10 of our originals eventually starved but we're hoping these ones reach some sort of equilibrium with the hair algae we've got on a couple of our rocks.

Anyway, it's a cool thing to see.
