Been dosing BRS for Ca, Alk, and Magnesium. Thinking of abandoning the BRS Mag for a premixed. I find that if I buy the dry goods to mix it in bulk they harden up and stick together before I can use them. Mixing is a pain as well. Thinking of maybe a premix like B Ionic or Kent but not sure. Anyone have any suggestions?

Especially on the Magnesium, I buy the 1gallon only nothing bigger. When when I get home, I mix the whole amount up all at once exactly for this reason. As soon as you open it and use then next time it's hard and a pain.

Also if you haven't been doing it to mix the Magnesium use hot ro/di. I used to like to use one of the sonic water boilers but it gave out and now just throw some water in the microwave get it nice and hot. Then it mixes easily and won't fall back out.

I really like the B-Ionic dosing 2 part. All their supplements are really top notch.

Well I ordered a 1 gallon size of the 2 Magnesium dry goods from BRS. Going to go ahead and mix up all of. That makes a lot of sense David. Might as well store a bunch of it pre-mixed rather than let it harden in the pail in no time and then throwing it away. I have been out for a while so I am sure that I will go through a lot getting levels back up.

I just used some of the preportioned packets from BRS - which came with a starter kit I got...
It actually came with water inside it already...so instead of a dry mix, it was more of a sludge. There were a few chunks still...but putting the jug in a warm bucket of water did the trick of dissolving the few clumps of salt at the bottom of the container.

Magnesium Sulfate is just Epson Salt so I don't usually buy the BRS one especially since I don't do 2 part so mine mix is 8 to 1 and don't need much anyway. Can get it just about anywhere even the $ store.

So you just do Magnesium Chloride with water 8 to 1? So say 8 cups water to 1 cup Magnesium Choride and skip the Sulfate altogether? If I understood you correctly that would be cool to eliminate putting all that Sulfate in there.

Sorry 7 cups Mg. chloride + 1 cup Mg. sulfate ratio per gallon so I don't use much of the Mg. Sulfate so I don't bother ordering BRS as I would have so much left over.

When running 2 part systems they have you add more of the Mg. sulfate to counter the all chloride added from the Calcium Chloride to better keep the chloride/sulfate ratio in your salt more inline.

Ok, I get it. I will do another batch using there formula and see where it goes from there. I did price out B-Ionic and Kent and they are very expensive.

That is what I use, it is what Xavier referenced. If you don't want to deal with it, put the whole thing in your water change mixing station every other month or so. Let it run at least a day, should be mixed up well. That water change will have lower alk/cal readings than normal, so you may need to adjust accordingly.

Mixing mag is one of my least favorite things.
