Surprise, Another SPS Tank (1 Viewer)

Unrelated to my display but interesting nonetheless:

Found parasitic pyramid snails in my QT tank. I’m thinking they just have came in on the Aussie live rock I added (bummer) so I broke it down and gave all the rocks an acid bath.

Bought the last bit of live rock Aquabiomics had and reset the tank. I have buckets of clean dry Fiji rock so I’ll add some and let it go.

Bought a new AI Blade Refugium model and really like it. It has cool white, royal, violet, and red so I just have the reds at like 10% and I’m really liking it. I just got this one as a hack because the grow model doesn’t have violet and that’s a no-go for me. With the other 3 channels at 100% this looks exactly like my dawn/dusk on my display with 1x Coral Plus and 1x Actinic. If it put out decent PAR this would be my go-to nano light at $150

Please excuse my dumpy home. Obviously the light is absurdly high but I just used the hanging mount I made previously for a Radion, and I don’t need any PAR right now.

What wrasse is that front and center? Almost looks like a lunate but guessing a pintail?

Just a Mccoskers flasher. He’s been a pretty good resident. It’s funny when he’s flashing the striped blennies and they can’t be bothered in the slightest.

It’s so tricky trying to keep a peaceful community in a tank this size and still have enough poop to feed the corals.

Do those parasitic snails only go after other invertebrates?

I guess I didn’t update much here.

Switched to an Ultra Reef Akula UKS-160 and added the DC pump kit. I love my BK Mini and it’s worked great but the AC motor produced a vibration resonance in my living area that annoyed my wife and I. Probably enhanced by the sump being hard plumbed to the overflow. The regular pump on the Ultra Reef wasn’t much better so ponied up for the DC kit and it’s been dead silent. I wanted something that didn’t have a Chinese pump or I would have got an Octo.

Started dosing Tropic Marin K & A. I have so much coral tissue compared to water volume I figure there’s no way water changes are keeping up without using a booster blend. It’s easy and you just put it in with the 2 part. Started low at 80ml/gallon a couple weeks ago.

So more pics:

Just had a chance to read through this. Nice build and amazing looking tank!

That solar flare 🤤 Millie’s are at the top for favorites of mine. Love the orange passion too. The corals look very healthy and happy. Nice job!

Thanks for the kind words guys! It’s been a long road for sure, and now I’m basically out of space and either need to thin the herd or go bigger 😬

Wife said the tank is too still and boring and I need something ā€œflowy in the windā€. I got my favorite indo green torch with green tips.

Nobody shares white pictures of ā€œgold amazing fire dragon ballsā€ torches which tells me they’re fleshy brown colored under full spectrum lighting lol.

Torch looks great! Whenever the lady is looking at the tank and I hear ā€œI think it needs more coralā€ That’s like… the sweetest thing you’ve ever said to me 🄲

It’s extremely rare here because she usually refers to the tank as ā€œfish jailā€ and how they’re sad because they’re not in the ocean etc

I’ve heard that before from my SO. My response is if they were in the ocean a grouper probably would have eaten them by now.
