Gahhh so I think the purple tang is bullying some smaller residents now that he’s grown a bit! Mccoskers wrasse is looking pretty skinny and now my larger male striped blenny tummy also looking distended and he’s laying on the sand appearing to have hours left

I’m home 3/5 weekdays with my son so I’m watching the tank a lot and never see any chasing he mostly lurks in the shadows or follows the Kole tang.

Perhaps they could be sick but nothing has been added to the tank in months aside from the torch frag above which was held in my QT for a few weeks.

Annnnnd an hour later he’s dead. Bummer I’ve had him for like 6 years. He has a hole on his underside that’s not his anus so who knows.

Man I’m sorry to hear that. Losing a fish is always rough, but one you’ve had for years? Dang. Hope you can figure out if it was bullying or something else.

Maybe old age which made him grow lethargic and once vulnerable then the bullying started? Either way sorry to hear. Sucks losing a fish you've had for a long time.

Well lifespan only tells us part of the story because who knows how old it was already when you got it! Common issue with fairy wrasse and why it sucks paying for one that bites the dust a year or two later (I believe they only have a lifespan of ~5 years in aquaria)

Of for sure.

Chad breeds the striped blennies among a grip of other fishies so in my case they were a couple months old.

From what I have seen, seems like fang blennies generally are not super long lived. 5-6 years seems to be pretty good for fang blennies.

Right on Chad thanks for chiming in! I wonder how Capman’s are doing at Augsburg in the big display. His were easily 5x the size of mine!

I agree, the smooth rounded margin of the wound indicates a bacterial infection, not an injury. Possibly, the fish developed enteritis (noted by the swelling) and then, the bacteria grew until it broke through the skin. Because the bacteria that can do this sort of thing are found in every aquarium (Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, etc.) this is likely to be a "one off" case and won't be contagious to the other fish.

Positive day after the loss, this came! Been patiently waiting to be able to move my ATO reservoir to the basement and stop lugging 5g jugs up the stairs while keeping the reliability of the Tunze 3155. Roger informed me the leads can be extended with 24g speaker wire and I’m happy to find that 1/4” standard RO tubing fits VERY snugly in the 6mm OD push connect fitting.

And after much trial and tribulation I have an ATO reservoir in the basement next to my RO reservoir. I got the pump all hooked up and it was just pulsing, helps if the voltage knob wasn’t still set to Nano from when I had my 40g 5+ years ago

Couple acros that have really kicked into high gear and a FTS for May.

Running on bare minimum upkeep for the last few week while I built a deck and tank hasn’t missed a beat. Thank goodness for automation.

There’s technically enough distance from the wall I can take it all apart, clean everything up and redo it but man it’s going to be a tricky job.

Very true. My Oregon Tort has 1 big gnarly branch that would be out of water but I guess it can be a big gnarly frag?

Thanks man! I’m really glad I put unions on my return lines or they would be in the way of accessing the drain unions entirely
