Surprise, Another SPS Tank (1 Viewer)

I haven’t seen a green one before. Do you have many fish in your frag tank? I’m assuming that’sWhere he is. Pretty cool to bad they get big and eat everything
There’s a pair of clowns and a tiny tang. Yeah green smashers are the most common. Kinda scary how quick and agile they are. He was still snapping every after I cut him in half 😬

I can’t bring myself to take these off this frag rack they are so happy.

This spot in the tank gets what I strive to give all of my Acropora but unable with the size of the tank and powerheads- strong diffuse (gentle) varying flow. This is best achieved with big powerheads at low speed IMO but most big power heads only go so slow.

Story of my life buddy. So many pretty acros sitting in my qt tank. So much fear to kill them with a transition to the DT. One of these days I’ll need to man up ;)

So it's not just me they are just that touchy... Looked at that post looked as if I was drinking sorry I wasn't

So since the expo my Solar Flare millie has been going downhill. It’s getting pretty pale and poor PE and strangely tips are turning very vibrant orange.

Every other coral looks good and i’ve learned not to take action based on 1 coral so I sent off an ICP.

Ran a test last year when everything was doing awesome (I highly recommend eveyone send in an ICP when the tank looks great so you have a point of reference) and only items of note are:

High Salinty at 36.5 ppt- weird as I just calibrated refractometer and checked against 2 different reference solutions but easy to adjust

Potassium at 477ppm- Not sure about the potassium unless it settles to the bottom of one of my trace additions (Part C, A and K elements) or a wonky bucket of Nyos. But i did a 15 gal water change yesterday and will do a couple more to get things back in line.

Strontium at 6ppm- I have this every time I send in ICP becuase of how much acros i have. I adjust with Brightwell Strontion but obviously need to dose more regularly to maintain.

Good luck. That’s such a beautiful colony you have. I hope it pulls through. If not hopefully one of the frags you sold will live and allow you to get a colony going again.

Final Update to this thread. The tank was a huge success. 75g has always been the sweet spot for me. Let‘s hope the new tank brings this much growth and health.

I attribute this mostly to stability. Auto water changes, 2part with Tropic Marin Part C and Elements A- and K+ kept trace elements really stable in the face of massive coral growth. No changes in lighting, no mechanical filtration other than a protein skimmer.

You really see the size of the colonies when you take them out and try to arrange them again.
