Takin pics farther into tank (1 Viewer)

I'm having trouble taking pics of animals that are farther in the tank. I have a nice picture of the pom pom crab but it turned out blurry. Using a Nikon D3100 with a 40mm micro and a tripod. I had it set on auto also. Please help me.

Have you try using a macro lense? I assume this picture was taken through the glass.
 
shut off all your flow and let the water settledown. If the picture is 6+ inches into the tank, its going to be hard to take a clear pic. You can also use a top down box and take a pic of them that way.
 
I did all of that. And I would say that it is exactly 6'' in to the tank. I thought about the top down boxes but that would not of gotten this little guy. He was pretty much all the way under those zoas.
