TDS Levels? (1 Viewer)

A float switch and auto shutoff valve is needed if you want the RO system to run automatically and keep your reservoir full at all times.

I agree its a must but only to shutoff so you don't forget. Your better off filling it and waiting until at least 50% empty resevoir before turning it back on. It takes a minute or two for the TDS from your membrane to be the most effecient so your putting extra strain on the DI for small runs.

A well running tank with good water quality and exports, DI is nice to have but not make or break. Algae issues are a constant problem or your just tettering on the edge of water quality it becomes more important to be sure everything entering is a good as possible. Nice filtration and export methods should handle it but a majority of people this is not the case. Overall though the costs isn't all the great for DI especially if you do the extra saving tips of longer runs instead of short runs and dual di to fully exhaust the first one. So I'd do it regardless.

$140.

These are what ive narrowed it down to, If i can get the cheaper unit and save money (upfront and over time) and have it perform good then i would like that. If not i can spend the extra money to get one with more stages.

Opinions?

I would go with this one. It comes with everything you need, nothing you don't. If down the road you wish you had more stages, it is easy to add them later.

In an effort to make the girlfriend happy about the RO/DI system in the apartment i need to hook it up in the main kitchen sink (last unit leaked, so now she doesnt trust them)

I brought my areator to home depot to find a size that fits and low and behold i did! it fits with the 5/8" compression fitting. But they did not have any of the 5/8" female adapters. I need a 5/8" female to garden hose or 3/4" or even 1/2" male but cant seem to find one on amazon, home depot or lowes... Any help?

garden adapter main purpose would be for washer dryer hookup. You should be able to find fittings for 1/4" OD tubing at Home Depot.

Sounds like you are trying to hook it up directly to the faucet? If that's the case you just go pick up the faucet connector replacement part for python type system or a waterbed fill kit faucet adapter. These come with the faucet to garden hose attachment

Yes, thats the plan. I have the standard faucet adapter with extra fittings and none of them fit. The only thing that fits is the 5/8" compression threading, nearly all faucet adapters ive found are 3/4" or 1/2" which obviously dont fit.

After searching the python system it is a 3/4" adapter as well.

I agree, Very easy to find STANDARD faucet to Garden hose adapters. Apperently the faucets they used in my apartment complex are not standard faucet sizes. I have the Adapter kit from BRS already which is the one you linked plus the areator they send with their RO/DI units. I need a faucet adapter for 5/8" not 3/4" (standard faucet size)

After a bit of googling I suspect your faucet is not actually 5/8. It is tom thumb size which uses M16x1 threads.
http://www.neoperl.net/en/oem/products/aerators/sizeshousings.html

M16 is 16mm = 16/25.4 = 0.62992125984 inches
Compared to 5/8=0.625 inches

That is close enough to feel like a fit when playing around at home depot, but probably different enough to leak under high pressure.

So what you need to find is a fitting labeled M16x1 or tom thumb.
