violet jellyfish (1 Viewer)

Have you ever been to the Omaha Zoo? They have a cylindrical tank full of jelly fish that is awesome! The whole aquarium area is awesome!

You guys really shouldn't post about Jellyfish. I have no time for them right now and I hope pretty soon I won't have any money for them either but this is sooooooo tempting. Just what I don't need, another hobby.

Mandalay Bay has an awesome round Jelly tank in their Shark Reef, I assume it's like Dusty mentioned in Omaha.

I hope they reproduce for you! Are they difficult to culture?

I believe these reproduce like other jellies in which they will eventually drop polyps. These polyps can be maintained in a small separate tank. When a change happens (usually a temp change) the polyps will strobilate releasing ephyra. These free swimming ephyra are the tiny versions of the free swimming medusa that is in the tank. These ephyra can then be moved into a separate tank to grow out into a display or sellable size. Food for all this during the process is freshy hatched baby brine shrimp.

All of this is the theory anyway. I haven't had a chance to try this myself. Someday.............
