Any suggestions on getting a little more out of this thing. Cheap coolpix 4600. Not interested in better at this point. I heard a tripod would make a huge difference. I'de like a digital body for the nikon 35 but I'de rather put the money to my corals and tank. thanks in advance.

thanks, I played with the exposure for these and this was the best true to color shot. just dont like the fuzz. I will try a few with the flash tomarrow when the lights come back on.

Does it have a timed release? If so, can you prop the camera on something (kinda like using a tripod) and use the timer to trip the shutter? The fuzz is movement of the camera while the shutter is open.

Main thing with all cameras when taking tank pictures is shoot perpendicular to the glass. Any angle will cause distortion. I'd echo the other suggestions. Adding a flash, IME, can negate some of the fluorescent characteristics of corals, but if you can do it right - you can also get some great lighting effects. I'm still working on this as clownnut recommended it to me awhile ago.

I just let my 12 year old take the photos, he does a pretty good job with ours.

If you want to try a tripod, LMK, you can borrow mine and see if it helps.
