power loss, heat change, lack of 02?

Just some summer guesses at what could get the fish and not the other guys. The reality if it was a pathogen that got them all, it would be very hard to find the answer as a hobbiest.

I came home from vacation two years ago to find that our fishsitter turned off the A/C and tank temp was at 90F+ in the afternoons. We lost a couple of fish that way. She said it was always reasonable in the morning (duh) when she came to feed them.

Is the tank near a window or the a/c on a timed thermostat that allows the room to get really hot?

Did anyone spray Febreze or something in the room with the display. I have read of things like that on RC.
