What camera do people use? (1 Viewer)

If you decide to dive into digital photography remember that the camera body is important but the glass (lens) is the most important. If you have to decide between really nice lens and decent camera body or nice camera body and kit lens I would recommend to get the nicest lens you can afford and match it with a decent camera body.

That was longer than I intended lol

I agree with everything Gasman said above and would like to add that all of these options are good options. They will all get you to the same point, so just decide what fits your hands best and the controls seem to make the most sense on.

I went with Nikon years ago and have been there since. I would have no problem shooting canon either.

On the Ti price point Sony was right there, I was surprised. At NCE they really like the Sony, apparently Sony has done some big upgrades to their cameras in the last couple years....at least at that price point. I think Sony is right there with the big other 2. I dont think Sony is competing yet on higher priced cameras...2000+. But I wont be spending that kind of $$$$ on a camera body!!!!!

I went with an Olympus PEN E-PL2 because of the reviews and the relatively inexpensive underwater housing. I have been really impressed with its performance o far and only plan on it getting better as i become more familiar with it. i picked it up factory refurbished on ebay for much less than it would have been new. Just something to consider.

i bought a cannon eos 7d 2 years ago or so.... still have no idea how to use it

Number 1, read the manual... seriously it sounds boring but you will learn a TON

Number 2, just walk around with it for a few days and shoot random things trying out the different "creative modes" Shutter Priority and Aperture priority especially.

Number 3, shoot about 10-20 photos of the exact same subject. It doesn't matter if 19 of them are bad. Its just a memory card and the photos can be deleted later. That one good shot though is worth it.
