So in 2-3 weeks or so (ugh, why must i wait so long for everything in this hobby:rolleyes:) I'm going to be adding fish back to my tank. I've already decided to do a pair of clowns, but I'm kind of trying to decide what would be a good 3rd fish... I used to have a firefish, but i'm thinking of doing something a bit different this time becase he was always hiding and I wouldn't mind something that's maybe a bit more visible...

current options i've been considering are possibly a yasha/pistol pair , or maybe a six line wrasse...

any opinions on these, or possible alternatives? just looking for some ideas that maybe i hadn't thought of yet...

in all honesty, you need to stop... 3 weeks ago you had your fish come down with ich, you had a feather duster shed its crown, and now a lettuce nudi is dying..... why is that... thats what you need to figure out before you add another piece of livestock and go thru this cycle again.... figure out what is wrong with your tank before you add and fuel a fire you maynot see burning yet.... but there is smoke here..... find the fire and put it out before you stoke it with another log.....

i've just made a few admittedly stupid mistakes, that's all. My water isnt poison or anything. There's so many things to take into account . for example , I didn't know that peppermint shrimp eat featherdusters. not becuase I didn't learn about peppermint shrimp, but because I didn't check to see if peppermint shrimp specifically eat featherdusters.

do you have pepermint shrimp or the camelbacks shrimp commonly sold as pepermint shrimp...... take a pic and show us.... not saying your wrong, but time and time again people think there peps are destroying everything when infact they have cammelbacks

i'm pretty sure they're peppermints. That's what they were sold as in the group buy and they look like peppermints should look. , but just to be sure, here's a photo-

right now its standing a few inches from my emerald crab swaying back and forth impatiently waiting to get a piece of snail that its eating... (don't worry, the snail died in my brother's tank, not mine ;) )

I like my six-line. His swimming pattern is very different than my chromis, so he's eye catching. And he eats frozen and flake foods as well as picking at the live rock. They eat bugs, so additional pest control is always nice.

yeah, I was watching some videos of them and they do have an interesting swimming pattern. I noticed that they're listed as semi-agressive on liveaquaria, would I have any problems keeping one of them in a tank with 2 clowns? I'm probably going to either end up with one of these, or SOME type of goby...

If you get a wrasse of any kind (6 line would be my suggestion) get the smallest one you can and add it LAST. Also you may want to check what everything you're going to stock eats before you throw together another tank ;).

"Begin with the end in mind"

yeah, the only wrasse i'd get would be a sixline, and it would be the last fish I added, and might not happen for a while actually... The plan was to add clowns first, then maybe wait till they got themselves established, then add a 3rd fish. I'd like to have all three fish eat the same stuff though (arcti-pods, flakes, frozen mysis)

I don't know anything about wrasse-clown compatibility, but my Chromis are far more aggressive than my six line wrasse. I did get him small and long after my Chromis as Bemi suggests. As far as reef safe, I've only heard of six-lines eating things like flatworms.

I had a 6 line wrasse in an older tank with 2 clowns, once the clowns realized they can't pick on him they all worked out just fine. The wrasse (RIP) was unfortunately crushed when a friend of mine was leaving in the night and bumped the stand enough to have a rock fall on him when he was sleeping in the sand bed. One of my favorite fish for both color and personality. Only fish I ever named too.

my 6 line is the most timid fish in my tank. he hides a lot. Finally seeing him a little more now after being in the tank for 5+ months.
